Community Highlights: Meet Yennifer Correia of Diamond Strings

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yennifer Correia.

Hi Yennifer, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I was born in Caracas, Venezuela and I began playing the violin at just seven years old. Early on, I realized music wasn’t just something I enjoyed — it gave me a way to express myself, a sense of purpose, and the feeling that bigger things were possible.

At 19, I made the life-changing decision to move to the United States to pursue my musical education and career. I studied at University of North Texas, and later earned my Master’s degree in Music Performance from Rice University.

While studying at Rice, I met my husband, Andre Dyachenko, who is also a professional musician. Shortly after we were married, he won the position of Principal Clarinet with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, which brought us to Memphis nearly 14 years ago — a city that has truly become home for our family.

Today, I am also a member of the violin section of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, and throughout my career I’ve had the privilege of performing on some of the world’s most renowned stages, including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, as well as concert halls across three continents. I’ve shared the stage with artists such as Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson, The Who, and John Legend in a nationally televised NBC performance. My work has also expanded into studio recording sessions for film scores, video games, and private productions, including the soundtrack for Song Sung Blue by Craig Brewer.

All of these experiences shaped the vision behind Diamond Strings. I founded the company because I wanted to create something that combined world-class musicianship with a deeply personal, elevated experience for clients. I loved performing, but I also discovered a passion for the creative and management side of building something meaningful from the ground up.

What started as an idea has now grown into a luxury ensemble known for bringing elegance, artistry, and emotion to weddings and events across Memphis and the Mid-South. For me, Diamond Strings is about more than music — it’s about creating unforgettable moments and showing people how powerful live music can be in bringing beauty, connection, and emotion into life’s most important celebrations.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road. Building a business in the arts requires wearing many hats at once — artist, entrepreneur, manager, marketer, and leader — and learning how to balance all of those roles has been one of the biggest challenges. As an immigrant, moving to a new country at 19 years old to pursue music also came with sacrifices, uncertainty, and the pressure of starting over far away from family and everything familiar. Luckily today I’m an US Citizen.

On top of maintaining a demanding performance career with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and raising a family, growing Diamond Strings required years of consistency, relationship-building, and earning trust in a very competitive industry. One of the biggest lessons along the way has been realizing that talent alone is not enough — creating an exceptional client experience, building a strong reputation, and leading with professionalism and care are just as important. Every challenge helped shape the business into what it is today, and I believe those experiences are what allow us to connect so personally with our clients and bring such intentionality to every performance.

As you know, we’re big fans of Diamond Strings. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Diamond Strings is a luxury string ensemble based in Memphis, specializing in live music for weddings, corporate events, galas, private celebrations, and concert performances throughout the Mid-South. What makes us unique is that we combine the artistry and professionalism of world-class musicians with a highly personalized client experience. Every musician in our ensemble is an accomplished professional performer, many of whom regularly perform with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, and nationally recognized productions such as Candlelight Concerts.

We are known for creating performances that feel elegant, emotional, and unforgettable — whether that’s performing a timeless classical processional for a wedding ceremony, reimagining modern songs with strings, or providing sophisticated live music for luxury events. One of the things clients consistently tell us is that they can feel the level of care and intentionality we bring to every detail. We don’t believe live music should feel like an afterthought; we believe it should elevate the entire atmosphere and become part of the memory people carry with them long after the event is over.

What sets Diamond Strings apart is our commitment to both excellence and connection. We focus not only on musical quality, but also on professionalism, reliability, communication, and creating an experience that feels seamless from beginning to end. I built this company with the vision of raising the standard for live event music in Memphis and the Mid-South while also making clients feel genuinely cared for throughout the process.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the reputation we’ve built through trust, consistency, and word-of-mouth referrals. Many of our clients and event partners come back to us, which means a great deal because it reflects the relationships we’ve cultivated over time. I’m also proud that Diamond Strings has grown into a recognizable luxury brand while still feeling warm, personal, and approachable.

Above all, I want readers to know that Diamond Strings is about more than simply providing music. We are passionate about creating moments that feel timeless, meaningful, and deeply memorable through the power of live performance.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that genuine relationships matter more than traditional “networking.” The opportunities that have shaped my career and helped grow Diamond Strings have come through trust, consistency, and treating people well over time. My advice for finding mentors is to seek out people whose work and character you truly admire, stay curious, and be willing to learn from every experience.

What has worked best for me is showing up consistently, doing excellent work, and building strong relationships — not only within the music world, but throughout the wedding and event industry. In this business, your reputation is everything, and people remember professionalism, reliability, and kindness.
