Today we’d like to introduce you to Jada Ross.
Hi Jada, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up watching my mom and grandmother in the kitchen and of course, enjoying what they made for us. They both had their own specialties. My mom was gracious enough to just take me by the hand when I was younger and show me her cards in the game of sweets.
I decided to put it to use in February of 2019 for Valentine’s Day. My friend Serena and I were juniors in high school and had put our creativity to the test. We sold these custom, hand decorated candy jars and gift baskets to our family members and classmates. Things went so well I thought, why not make this sweeter? I started offering chocolate covered strawberries and people just fell in love with them.
I perfected my craft as time went on. One day, I randomly posted a photo of my cheesecake filled strawberries on Facebook Marketplace, not really expecting anything out of it. To my surprise my inbox started filling with messages from people across the city of Memphis, wanting my strawberries by the dozen.
My customer return rate was increasing by the day, and I even began to receive catering requests for parties and events. That made me realize, I’ve got to go all the way with this. With some help from my sister, the great Erica Ross, I created my vision for the Haven and have been bringing it to life ever since. It’s only up from here!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I’ve learned on my journey that success is based on faith and the willingness to commit. When you have goals and desires you have to put in a lot of work to better yourself and perfect what you do. The road isn’t easy, it takes a lot of guts and dedication. The game has to test you to see how bad you really want it. I put in the work every day to learn from the journey and come out stronger on the side closest to what I’m working toward.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Alongside owning and operating Ja’s Treat Haven I am also an artist and network marketer. My work has been showcased throughout Memphis in support of organizations and facilities such as Arkwings, Advance Memphis, and the Memphis Botanic Garden. I’m most proud of my artwork and the ability it gives me to brighten the lives of buyers as well as a percentage of the proceeds going directly toward the well needed advancement of the city of Memphis. I love that through my marketing career I’m able to aid individuals in a number of different areas, and can give the gift of opportunity. I think that’s what really sets me apart from others.
What are your plans for the future?
I’m happy to announce that Ja’s Treat Haven is partnering with one of the leading food delivery services, DoorDash. Customers located in Memphis and its surrounding areas will be able to get their favorite menu items delivered right to their doorstep, or gift a loved one on a special day with just a few taps on their phone. I’m very excited to reach a larger customer base as the menu continues to expand.
