Conversations with Jasmine Lang

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Lang.

Hi Jasmine, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Makeup saved me from a lot of hurt as a child. Going through puberty in middle school was super embarrassing because it showed on my face. I would go in my mother’s bathroom and put on her foundation to feel like myself again. Also, I would sit on YouTube for hours learning how to care for my skin and execute makeup. Throughout middle school, high school, and college I practiced my craft on myself and others who saw potential in me. After I began to believe in myself I realized Skin care and makeup can be my career. My ultimate goal is to take away the hurt I felt as a child from every woman who has issues with their skin. I know beauty is not only about the skin it comes from the inside, which is why my slogan is “You Glow Girl”. Sometimes we don’t see the potential in ourselves until someone shows us, and I want to be that person.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I know we have heard the saying “the struggle is real” and I have experienced that struggle throughout my venture of becoming a small business. Some struggles I face are doubt, comparisons, and time. I often doubt and compare my work to others not knowing that there is only one me and only one of that person. I often remind myself what is for me will be for me. Another struggle I face is time because I am currently working a full time job, going to school at night, and running a business. My days are never-ending but I know it will all be worth it in the end.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a self-taught makeup artist and I specialize in eyebrows and glamour makeup. I am known for making my clients glow in the dark with my makeup techniques. What sets me apart from another artist is that I’m not stopping at being a self-taught artist I am in school to learn more about caring for what’s under the makeup, which is the skin the largest organ on our body.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I have learned how important cleanliness is throughout the Covid-19 crisis. We should take precautions even if we feel everything is or should be ok. Gloves, masks, and cleaning supplies are essential in my line of work.
