Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyla Andrews.
Hi Kyla, can you introduce yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always loved art; as a little girl, I would draw & paint portraits, which eventually progressed into playing with makeup. At 14, I switched to homeschooling instead of public school, giving me only free time to practice. My first client was a Facebook friend in 2018 who needed her makeup done for prom. I was terrified because I couldn’t understand “why’d she trust me?!”. At that time I had never thought of doing makeup on clients, just myself for fun. Ever since that day, my life had changed for the greater good. I’m happy that I’ve dedicated my life to my passion & while doing so, I’ve met some great friends. In early 2023 I went on tour across the country with Aleza as her MUA. I got to see so many people like GloRilla, K carbon, Gloss, Slimeroni, Nardo wick, yo Gotti, Cardi B and etc. After coming home from tour, I continued to work hard. l gained even more celebrity clientele, graduated high school, bought my first car, & became a college freshman. Over the years, my clientele has flourished tremendously because I do what I love. Honestly, I can’t thank my support system more for allowing this little black girl to chase her dreams and excel beyond her horizons.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey has been challenging. Obstacles are inevitable to avoid in business; they’re like growing pains. I continue to show up for myself & fight for a vision only I can see.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My name is Ki; I’m a 19-year-old Makeup Artist! I’ve been in the beauty industry since I was 14 years old. Over the past years, I have gained clientele, worked with celebrities, and become a traveling MUA! I’m dedicated to making my clients feel as beautiful as they are!
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I’ve learned that it’s not about winning the victory end goal in life. Although I know it’s just as enjoyable, we should focus on our journey & the trials & tribulations it takes to gain victory.
