Conversations with Pippotchi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pippotchi

Hi Pippotchi, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I played basketball for a long time and thought it was my passion. Eventually, I lost that passion and started looking for something new to pour my time and energy into. I had a close friend who made music, and I was curious about the production process. I shadowed him for a while until I knew enough to branch out on my own.

From there, I started making beats and selling them to local artists. I felt like I was selling myself short with the artists and had the idea to start working on beats myself. I wasn’t very good when I first started, but I enjoyed making music as a creative outlet. It was therapeutic to write lyrics and create music from start to finish. The more I did it, the better I got, and the more my passion for music grew.

I stuck with making music and decided to make a plan to build an audience. I started consistently posting engaging content online to promote myself and find people who resonated with my music and my message. I decided to roll out a new song every other week, and my audience loved having access to new music so regularly and that everything I released was self-produced.

On June 7th, 2024, I released my first EP and started my merch brand: EMBS, which stands for Evolving Mind Body and Soul. EMBS is a reminder to myself and my audience that it’s important to take baby steps every day to become a better version of yourself.

As of today, I have over 50,000 monthly listeners on Spotify with almost 100,000 followers across my social media platforms, and I have no plans of slowing down anytime soon.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s not a question of “if” there have been struggles along the way. There are always bumps in the road no matter what you’re doing; that’s just life.

As a creator, you’re in a mental battle with yourself every day. If you can win that mental battle, you can win anything.

Can you keep showing up? That’s the real question. That’s the real struggle.

When you work in a creative field, you have the added challenge of staying inspired. The hardest thing to learn is to detach from the results and fall in love with the process. You have to fall in love with the process so that every day you get to create is a good day. No matter what you end up creating, as long as you show up, it will be worthwhile.

Once you release that beat, video, song, or whatever it is, you have to let it go. You can’t let yourself get caught up in how it performs. The only thing you can do is control what you can control. Have fun with the process of creating and stop spending time comparing yourself to other people, or else you won’t be able to enjoy the journey of being an artist.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an independent artist, so I have to specialize in many different areas.

I produce (for myself and other artists), mix, master, write, and record myself. I make the cover art for my songs, and design and sell merch. I create my own content for social media, including short music videos, skits, and entertaining videos, which I shoot and edit myself. Those are the things that I’m known for and take pride in. Everything you see, hear, and touch is by me. It’s a lot that I have to do, but it doesn’t feel like work because I enjoy what I do.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I have peers who motivate me to keep going and many supporters who have been beside me from day one. The support from people showing love in the comments and sending meaningful DMs plays a big role in the success I’m having. It will also be the reason for my future success, as they just want to see me win and keep going.

They are the backbone of everything I do. I don’t take that for granted, and I try to make an effort to respond to as many comments as I can to show how genuinely grateful I am for them. I tell them to just keep believing in me and showing love because I promise “It’s only up from here.”
