Today we’d like to introduce you to Tandra Cox.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always loved and had a niche for all things beauty! It all started when I was in high school. I took cosmetology as a trade. I fell in love with going to hair shows, traveling, and making women feel beautiful. After high school, I pursued my Bachelor’s degree in Health care. After working in that industry for 4 years I decided to jump back into beauty. I’ve always loved both industries because I like to help people. My first client suffered from Alopecia.
She was looking for a custom wig. After customizing her wig, giving her the desired length and style she said I changed her life! I knew then, I was in the right industry. I aim to help women feel beautiful whether they wear extensions due to a condition or because they want to change their look without the commitment.
Truu Beauty has been in business for five years specializing in luxury hair extensions for everyday women. Creating Truu Beauty, I wanted to represent all women and offer a variety of curl patterns and manageability. I wanted to create a brand that captures the radiance, versatility, and ageless beauty of women.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road but so worth it. It’s not always easy to stand out in an over-saturated market but with the right marketing tools and strategies, you absolutely can! I always just remember to be ME! People fall in love with you when they can relate.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I currently still work in health care because I absolutely love it! I manage my hair store online. And I provide hair extensions wholesale to several salons. We are now a part of Amazon black enterprise and we’re taking things to the next level. So stay tuned! I’m most proud of my commitment to myself and my business!
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I was born and raised in Memphis, TN. I think you learn to just love it all. The city breathes culture. And I love to see us making things happen!
