Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Schonberg.
Hi Amanda, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After I completed culinary arts school, I went into food service management. While on the job, I started making cakes on the side. I started with some of the same recipes that my mom had made. She had a holiday ham that she use to put Disaronno on, she and my aunt loved to bake so when I started my business I knew exactly what my specialty would be.
I picked up a bottle to begin experimenting with flavors and then Chef Schonberg’s Sweets was created.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. During culinary school, I lost my mom and everything I owned in a house fire. It was a tragic loss and it hit me hard. However, I knew my mom would want me to keep going. I caught 6 buses a day. 3 to get to school and 3 to get home.
I was determined to finish. I ran for office in which I served as the college treasurer, serving gave me a scholarship along with another scholarship I applied for through our culinary program, it was worth it because I completed the top of my class and walked out of college debt-free.
I tell people any test you endure will only add to your testimony, I didn’t let anything stop me from completing what my mother saw me start.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the founder of Baking For Business. I am a bakery business coach determined to help other bakers grow their businesses and thrive in their communities. I share business and marketing courses through my membership in The Entrepreneur Community.
As a baker myself, I know how hard it is to run a business because I still run my own. When others would ask me about how I achieved my success in business I created a membership to help share with additional bakers all the ways that they can grow.
My bakery has won multiple awards, been featured by brands such as FOX, NBC, Wilton, and more. I have been blessed to partner with businesses such as Lexus, Kendra Scott, Marriott, Williams-Sonoma, Target, and a host of others.
Every success I have achieved in my personal baking business I use to help my students thrive in my educational membership business.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
When I first begin to teach, I built my business with a partner. I had a partnership for 4 years but always longed for something different. In 2020, I ended my partnership and rebuilt my business all over again.
It was the best decision, I could have made. Everything started taking off, I was able to implement my own ideas and thoughts and learn a lot from myself as well. It allowed me true creative freedom to build a business exactly how I wanted.
People come and go in our lives, and everyone has a season. I have no regrets as it was a seasonal period and there is always a lesson to be learned.
Fast forward now, I have a clothing line for bakers, a podcast dropping soon and a lot more people I am able to help by believing in myself and taking that risk.
Going forward I am on a mission to change our industry. I want to help 1000 bakers create 6 figure businesses. I believe we all have a gift, some just need to know how to tap into theirs and make an impact while making an income. That’s the goal and mission of The Entrepreneur Community.

I’m so excited for you, you have worked hard to get were you are. Continue to reach for the stars.
I know for myself that this lady is a hard worker, she was my supervisor at mentorship academy in the cafeteria .
God bless you….
