Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Riggs.
Hi Ashley, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I started in the beauty industry about ten years ago as a certified makeup artist and quickly moved into representing cosmetic and skincare companies as a brand ambassador. To increase sales and educate their staff on the brand, I would travel the territory these companies assigned me and visit beauty stores, such as Ulta and Sephora. It was fun, and I loved it, but I hit a glass ceiling.
Also, the more I learned about skin, the more I wanted to know! So, I sold my home, moved my children to the Memphis area to school, and became a licensed aesthetician (skincare specialist) in Tennessee. That’s the best move I’ve ever made. My passion drove me into the most fantastic career, and I am beyond grateful for the opportunities I’ve had since.
I am proud to say that I am now a licensed aesthetician, certified laser operator, and sales director for SkinBody Memphis, the most progressive medspa in Memphis, TN. We are result-driven and treat our clients with the care that you would expect from a boutique medspa.
The old cliche is true, find something you love to do, and you’ll never work a day in your life. Live your dreams, for real. You never know where they will lead you.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was tough moving from my tiny hometown of Tupelo, MS. I left my friends, my family, my community. And going to school with very little income and two dependent children was even more challenging. But it was worth it in the end. One year of discomfort has afforded me many years of bliss.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed aesthetician and certified laser operator. I specialize in layering modalities to achieve dramatic results. My clients are loyal, and I am dedicated to them! I am known as a serious ingredient nerd, too. I study and constantly train because you have to be knowledgeable to be the best in this field. Medical aesthetics changes and evolves rapidly.
I set myself apart with the passion I display to my clients. I am dedicated to the result as much as they are. And that’s important.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Most people wouldn’t know that I am a complete bookworm. I read a lot. And when I’m not reading, I’m usually watching a documentary.
