Today we’d like to introduce you to Bella Logan
Hi Bella, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
As a kid, I have always been fascinated with fashion. Style has always come easy to me but as I got older my sense of style changed, and my love for fashion deepened. In my teenage years, I can remember going to Walmart buying shirts and distressing them to my liking. I also would gather my old jeans I no longer found appealing and distressed them, turning something old into something completely new. Furthermore, I have always been tech-savvy as a kid and teenager. When I discovered PicArts I began creating all kinds of cool edits on my phone while also modeling clothes unknowingly portraying what an editorial photographer/model was.
When I ventured off to college and was exposed to various kinds of people from so many different walks of life, I began to learn so much about myself and others. I even learned more about fashion and what a real model was. So many people would tell me I dressed well and was photogenic and should consider modeling but as an aspiring engineer coming from a family that believed a college degree and a regular 9-5 was the only way to survive it didn’t seem ideal. But one day a photographer reached out to me and asked if I could be their muse and ever since I’ve been in love.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not been smooth at all. It has been a struggle for sure. I don’t come from much money so everything I have I worked very hard for. Going off to school seemed to have been such a great escape for me because no one in my family managed to do such a thing, nevertheless, no one told me how broke college students were so that great escape turned into an awful nightmare pretty fast. While also not having much money to fund my dreams being black and trans can be extremely hard sometimes especially when trying to find photographers in the South who suit my style and aesthetic while also being comfortable enough to work with me. Although the road hasn’t been smooth I wouldn’t change anything. Those challenges I’ve endured have not only strengthened my faith in the Lord but taught me perseverance. I’m thankful for every single challenge.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Honestly, I specialize in a lot of things known and unknown but I am mainly known for my modeling and unique style. I don’t like to put myself in a box, but if I were to label myself as anything it would be a superstar. I feel what makes one truly a superstar is not conforming to just one thing. They are pure and genuine souls who not only love God but love humanity and all of his creations as a whole while exhibiting unique talents that benefit our world for the better. Spreading peace, love, and joy, creating harmony between all mankind. Lastly, I honestly feel what sets me apart from others is my heart as humble as it is.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about Memphis would honestly be how there is always something to do, growing up in the delta we didn’t have that luxury. My least favorite thing though would have to be the high crime rates. Although the crime is bad it is beautiful to witness how Memphis is growing and expanding.
