Today we’d like to introduce you to Bleu Levees.
Hi Bleu, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, and my journey really starts there. After Hurricane Katrina, my family and I relocated to Memphis, Tennessee — a move that shaped so much of who I am as a person and an artist. I started writing poetry when I was younger, but it wasn’t until high school, maybe around 10th grade, that I began rapping. Even then, I didn’t take it too seriously until later in life.
My first official single, released through proper distribution, was Ghetto Suburbia. From there, I spent about two years consistently putting out singles, experimenting, and finding my sound. My most recent release is my debut full-length album, The Way of the Cat, which I truly feel is my best work to date.
Along the way, I’ve had the chance to perform for some incredible platforms and venues — from Memphis Slim House, to the Hi Tone, and most recently at the FedEx Forum for the Memphis Grizzlies halftime show with Unapologetic. For me, music is just one piece of the bigger picture. I see my journey expanding into fashion, creative direction, and cultural storytelling. Everything I do, whether in music or beyond, is rooted in authenticity and in telling my truth.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing about this journey has been a smooth ride. Life brings its own challenges — personal, financial, mental — and being an independent artist adds another layer to that. Getting yourself out there without the capital or resources that bigger artists have is always an uphill climb. But in a way, those struggles have been a blessing. They’ve forced me to be resourceful, to stay true to my vision, and to build my career in the most authentic way possible. Every step, even the tough ones, has helped me dictate my own path and decide exactly where I want to go.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a songwriter, hip-hop artist, and creative director, but I also wear a lot of other hats. I’m part owner of Panthers Paradise, a streetwear brand that merges luxury with hip-hop culture, and I’m building LVZ Lab, a creative platform where I break down my past work, share behind-the-scenes processes, and help other creatives bring their visions to life.
What I’m most proud of is the world-building behind my debut album, The Way of the Cat. It’s more than just music — it’s a fully immersive creative universe that ties into fashion, visual storytelling, and live experiences.
What sets me apart is my ability to connect different mediums under one vision. I’m not just creating songs; I’m crafting a culture around them. Whether it’s through fashion, content, or performance, I’m always looking for ways to give people a full experience, not just a single moment.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
People might be surprised to know that Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is one of my go-to comfort movies. Another curveball — I actually thought I’d end up playing football when I was younger. I was really into sports as a kid and teenager. And on top of that, I’m an only child, which might explain why I’m so good at getting lost in my own creative worlds.”
