Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlee McIntosh.
Hi Carlee, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello everyone, my name is Carlee McIntosh & I am the owner of Perfectly Plated. For as long as I can remember, I’ve enjoyed working with food in a way that’s not only delicious but visually stunning. About eight years ago, I started making charcuterie boards for family gatherings, holidays, and small get-togethers. What began as a fun hobby quickly turned into a true passion. I loved the challenge of balancing flavors, textures, and colors—turning simple ingredients into edible art.
Friends and family started encouraging me to take it further, and for years, the idea sat in the back of my mind. Then, five months ago, I finally took the leap and officially launched Perfectly Plated. I had no idea what to expect, but the response was overwhelming in the best way. What started as just charcuterie boards has grown into so much more: grazing tables, catering, and even fresh floral arrangements.
Every board and table I create is crafted with care, intention, and a personal touch. Perfectly Plated was born out of passion, and it continues to grow because of the incredible support from this community. I’m so thankful to be doing what I love and to be part of so many people’s celebrations and special moments.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Running Perfectly Plated has been one of the most exciting and challenging things I’ve ever done—and I’ve been doing it while also being a full-time college student, working two jobs, and running another small business. On the outside, it may look like beautiful charcuterie boards and floral arrangements, but behind the scenes, there’s a whole lot of hustle, learning, and figuring things out as I go.
When I first started, one of the biggest challenges was pricing. I wanted to make my boards affordable, but I also had to learn how to value my time, talent, and the quality ingredients I use. I had to ask myself tough questions: How much is my time worth? How do I make this sustainable? I spent hours researching food costs, calculating margins, and learning how to build something that could grow without burning me out.
Growing a client base took intentional effort. I leaned into social media, using the skills I’ve been developing in college to create a brand that feels authentic and eye-catching. I focused on showcasing my work consistently, highlighting not just the products but the experience behind them. Through content, engagement, and word-of-mouth, Perfectly Plated began to reach new audiences—and each new client became part of a growing community that values thoughtful presentation and quality service.
Doing all this while balancing college and jobs has taken serious time management, late nights, and lots of self-discipline. But it’s also given me a sense of purpose and pride. I’m not just working toward a degree—I’m building something real, something mine.
Perfectly Plated is still growing, and so am I. Every challenge has taught me something valuable, and every win—big or small—reminds me why I started.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At Perfectly Plated, we are known for our grazing tables and catering menu that focus on quality and presentation. We use only premium meats and cheeses, carefully selected for their flavor and freshness. Our grazing tables are designed to offer a variety of options that look appealing and taste great.
What sets us apart is that every item on our catering menu is handmade. From dips and salads to mini sandwiches and desserts, everything is prepared from scratch using fresh ingredients. We avoid pre-packaged or processed items to ensure the best quality and taste for our clients.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was always a naturally creative and curious person. From a young age, I found myself drawn to the kitchen—I loved experimenting with flavors, helping out with family meals, and creating new dishes just for fun. Cooking wasn’t just something I did; it was a way for me to express myself and bring joy to those around me.
I’ve always been a generous and kind-hearted person. Whether it was sharing my homemade treats with neighbors or helping friends and family whenever they needed it, giving back and making others feel cared for has always been important to me. Creativity and kindness went hand-in-hand—finding ways to make people smile through thoughtful gestures, like a beautifully prepared plate or a little surprise snack, was something I naturally enjoyed.
Giving back to my community has been a core part of who I am. Through Perfectly Plated, I’m able to use my passion and skills to contribute in meaningful ways—whether it’s donating boards to local fundraisers, supporting community events with catering, or simply sharing food with those in need. For me, food is more than just nourishment; it’s a way to connect, build community, and spread kindness.
