Today we’d like to introduce you to Char Robinson.
Hi Char, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I always loved makeup! As a kid, I remember going into my mom’s makeup bag and getting “glam”. Even though she’d fuss, it was always worth it to me. Ha! In my teenage years, I continued to love makeup but I grew my artistic skills. Drawing, sculpting, painting and more. It’s safe to say I loved all art styles and my natural talent continued to flourish.
In college, I ended up working at a Walgreens as a cashier but I was always drawn to the cosmetics department. I was able to work consistently within the cosmetics department over time stocking shelves and assisting customers.
My mom pushed me further into makeup artistry! She always said since I was naturally artistic, that if I see someone’s face as a canvas, I can surely be a makeup artist. I took her words and slowly developed my craft over the years until I felt ready to be a freelance makeup artist.
Today, I have a career that I can say have taken me places I never thought I’d go! I’ve glammed moms, daughters, grandmother’s, brides, pageant winners, prom princesses and so much more. My love for makeup is still here, I provide professional and affordable services and I get the pleasure of ALWAYS putting the client first to make them feel their most beautiful. And that alone will forever fuel my love of makeup artisty!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Struggles are always there! You’re always learning within your craft. Business may get slow at times, you have to push thru it! The long days at times can be a struggle, when it’s only you with 10 faces to complete perfectly every time! But it’s that deep love for beauty that keeps me going.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a traveling, freelance makeup artist. I Glam women of all ages for all types of occasions. I am known for my natural, soft glam makeup looks- my clients always tell me that their makeup feels good on the skin, not heavy! I’m most proud of my professionalism and dependability! People talk! And if you are unprofessional and unreliable, it can negatively impact your business. My knowledge in beauty, natural artistic abilities and compassion for clients sets me apart from others.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I won’t say luck has played a part in my life or business but, I will say I always believe what is meant for me will be for me! It never fails me and I am blessed.
