Today we’d like to introduce you to Dessica Guyton. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Dessica Guyton is the owner of JMM Boutique. Dessica is from Jonesboro, Arkansas. She has her bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Social Work and works as a Mental Health Therapist.
She has traveled and completed college internships as well as worked in Memphis, TN since age 18, so over a decade of being a part of Memphis culture. She has several years of retail experience and fashion has always been a passion of hers.
She believes in empowering and encouraging other women to help them feel their best. JMM Boutique was opened in 2019 to offer retail therapy to women of all shapes and sizes. JMM Boutique wants to provide a sense of comfort, ease, and beauty in clothing form.
The goal is to help women gain confidence and self-esteem.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Owning a business is never easy. There have been several obstacles and challenges along the way. JMM Boutique is run by me which means organization and determination are a big part of success. Entrepreneurship requires dedication and hard work.
The boutique is 100% funded and run by its owner, which requires consistency. The biggest challenge would be there will always be something new that will be learned. Growing and evolving never stops when attempting to build a successful business.
Networking, finances, brand development, marketing, and content creation are all daily obstacles. The key is to stay focused and allow yourself some compassion during the journey.

JMM Boutique is known for having affordable, comfortable, and cute clothes that allow a woman to feel confident and beautiful. As an owner of a business that helps empower women is one of the proudest moments.
I feel like I was able to accomplish opening a business and maintaining a business longer than most small businesses, which is a huge accomplishment. JMM Boutique is different from others because of the level of customer service provided.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
My favorite thing about Memphis is the culture and how diverse it is. The city offers so many avenues in order to be successful. The thing that I like least is the lack of known opportunities for small business owners.

I’ve known the owner for several years! I’ve always known her to have a passion in helping uplift women whether it’s mentally, emotionally etc. she’s always had a great taste in style & I’ve even bought a few items from her boutique that I love! I love everything about her character & who she is as a business woman/therapist.
