Today we’d like to introduce you to Eddie Donovan.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Music is a great passion of mine. I started taking piano lessons as a child. In my early teens, I started listening to all types of rock ranging from oldies to heavy metal. As I crossed over in my teen years, I started adapting my piano playing so that I could play in bands. During those years, my musical tastes evolved to include blues, soul, jazz, latin, folk, and country. In my early twenties, I began dabbling in guitar and bass guitar.
After a long hiatus from music, I started playing again in public when I was overseas. I also began to sing and focused on the style of music that best suited my voice mainly Elvis, Johnny Cash, INXS, The Doors, and Billy Idol.
Recently, I began to become known for my performances of classic rock covers on my YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like most things in life, I believe that hard work in your craft is usually what leads you down the road of progress. My first struggles involved my learning the basics of music and developing into a decent piano/keyboards player for local rock bands. Years later, I struggled a lot when I took up guitar. It also took me a long time for me to develop as a singer and adapt my singing to the style of music most appropriate to it.
Experimentation for me has been important. It is good to try things, monitor your performance, analyze what was good, choose future material utilizing newly gained knowledge/experience, and to repeat the process over and over. Mentorship has also been invaluable. I have been blessed to know and learn from some great musicians along the way each with their own style and unique experience.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have worked both in the private sector and the public sector. I have played in bars. I have also acted in a paid video commercial for Kia Motors. I do not believe that I am exactly known for anything asides from having worked very hard and being very persistent in bringing value to the organizations I have worked for. I am grateful to have had a career. I always remind myself that there are people out there with more skills, experience, motivation, and education than me that sadly do not have jobs let alone careers at this moment.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I would be remised if I did not thank my supporters and fellow music enthusiasts on social media over the past couple of years. They have encouraged me to take my music in new directions and have given me much-needed positive feedback.
Over time, I have enjoyed developing a relationship with these great positive people from all over the world albeit from a distance. I look forward to opportunities to perform around the world and meet them face to face.
