Daily Inspiration: Meet Elisha Reed

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elisha Reed.

Hi Elisha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
My name is Elisha. I am a wife and mother of 3 children. I also have 2 step kids. I am a native of Greenville, MS. I graduated from Delta State University with a degree in biology. I also have a Master’s degree in Exercise Science. I have been an ISSA certified personal trainer for 10 years.

As a college athlete, I always knew the importance of physical activity. Once I entered the workforce, I got comfortable and stopped exercising regularly. I started to gain weight and my results from my physical examinations were not looking good. So, I decided to get a trainer. Working with a trainer inspired me to become a trainer myself.

I worked for several gyms only to realize I didn’t like how gyms approached personal training and how the clients were treated and charged. So, I started training clients in parks, at houses, wherever I had space because I vowed to never work for someone else’s gym again. I started Versatile Bodies in 2015 with one goal in mind to create an inclusive environment for all types of people on all fitness levels. The perfect place for imperfect bodies was born.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely was a learning process because I knew absolutely nothing about running a business. I had to basically learn as I went. I made a lot of mistakes but I learned and grew a lot through all of that. I struggled the most with balancing entrepreneurship and working full-time. My family and clients provided a great support system.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in weight loss and body toning. I am known for my knowledge of the industry, my ability to work with all kinds of people, and my friendly personality. I am most proud of the weight loss success of my clients. My current focus is building a solid online community so my experience can help people all over the world.

What sets me apart from others? I’ve been there… I’ve been out of shape and overweight; so, I know first hand the type of dedication and sacrifice it takes to reach your fitness goals. I also know the struggles my clients face because I had to go through some of them myself.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
There is no “One-Size-Fits-All” approach to fitness. Each individual has a unique set of circumstances that you have to work within in order for them to achieve their goals. The process is slow but quitting won’t speed it up.
