Today we’d like to introduce you to HARZEE.
Hi HARZEE, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Since about the age of 10, I have always strived to be a successful artist and have been willing to do whatever it takes to get there. Taking inspiration from artists like Ariana Grande, Bruno Mars, and even Tame Impala, I’ve been developing my own sound and making huge progress towards being the person I want to become.
I started out under the stage name ALYX, making and releasing my first song on nothing but my phone until I searched for the means to make music with better quality, better reach, and better potential to tell the stories that I wanted to tell. At first, I was aiming to make catchier songs with no meaning in an attempt to grab the general public’s attention.
However, it was when I switched my stage name to HARZEE and switched up my look, sound, and motive that everyone began to appreciate my music more. Now, my songs tell stories of my life that I could not imagine being portrayed in any other format.
My most beautiful art comes from a place of authenticity, even though I’m sure if I continued to make meaningless music I would probably have a steadier incline to the publicity I desire. Above all else, my only goal is to share my art for people to enjoy and feel it as strongly as I do.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Unfortunately, I have not had the luxury of living in the best circumstances! My life did a full 180 when I least expected it, but it made me stronger.
In 2019, my mother had formed a crack addiction that threw me and my little brothers for a loop, and I slowly watched all of the life and joy be sucked out of my family and motivation for my craft. That was only the beginning though.
It was when we lost our home, car, pet, and means of living comfortably in any manner that made me see how much more important it was that I showed my brothers if no one else, even our mother who had done a wonderful job at taking care of us up until that point, was going to strive to give us all a better life, I would.
And I still hope to do that. We are all split up at the moment but are staying in contact, and even though they may not be the biggest fans of their brother’s music (haha), I still hope the passion and benefits that I reap from my craft will make up for all the time we have lost.
Until then, I do not plan to stop ‘going and growing’. Our futures lie in my hands and I want nothing more than to turn our trash into treasure. I’m already on that path.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a 16-year-old recording artist and performer based in Memphis, Tennessee! I’m mostly known for my dreamy harmonies and vocals, catchy lyrics and melodies, and in terms of those who have met me in person, the way I carry myself despite what I have been through.
I’m most proud of my achievements within this recent year of 2022, in which I have accomplished performing at the Halloran Centre and multiple other events as an official entertainer for my school district. My voice, music, drive, and fanbase have evolved tremendously throughout the past year or so and I cannot wait for more opportunities to come my way.
I tend to set myself apart from others in the way I create music and communicate to others the importance of “doing it scared” and seizing every opportunity to propel yourself forward. While I do not have an alter ego like Sasha Fierce, my performance on stage is equivalent to being wound up like a toy and let go.
Every move, flow and note that my body expresses and releases is an ode to my endeavor of being heard and understood.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The one characteristic I feel is most important to my success is resilience. Without it, there is no foundation upon which my existence stands. It is the key to success in every aspect of life!
