Daily Inspiration: Meet Izzy’s Clawz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Izzy’s Clawz

Izzy’s, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Izzy, and I am a licensed, self-employed nail artist. I’ve always had a love for art and fashion. I started watching nail enhancement videos when I was around 14 or 15 years old. As an iPad kid, I would spend hours on YouTube watching nail videos. My mom didn’t want me to get my nails done because of my age, so I would look up how to wear and design press-on nails. I would apply them in the school bathroom before class, and of course my nails had to match my outfit for the day. In a way, it’s ironic—sneaking to wear nails eventually led to the business I have today. Constantly watching videos on how to apply press-ons eventually led me to videos on how to lay an acrylic bead. This is what really sparked my interest. By spending so much time on YouTube, I not only learned how to wear press-ons, but I also discovered the world of entrepreneurship, which inspired me to become a self employed nail artist. I shared these aspirations with my dad, and even though I was just 16 with a dream, he invested in me. After that, I practiced all summer in 2019, and by the winter of that year, I began taking clients. I started by working in my bedroom, then moved to the garage, and now I’m in a suite. I learned how to reinvest what I made back into my business, which helped it grow into what it is today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve faced many obstacles along the way, but the biggest obstacle to get over is the voice in your head telling you to quit. I was and still am a very determined, deticated, and driven person. Therefore, any of the struggles I had or am going to have, God and I will walk through them.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a self-employed nail artist who specializes in nail art. I would say I am most known for my nail art and my creativity when it comes to executing nail designs. What sets me apart from others is my creativity and versatility; I am able to do almost anything anyone puts in front of me. I can literally sculpt a 3D spider from gel, paint characters, or give my client a cute and simple nail set.

I am most proud of where my business is today. If the 16-year-old version of me were to see me now, she’d be proud of the woman I have become. Secondly, I am proud of my determination to keep going no matter what obstacles I face. And lastly, I am proud of the fact that I had the opportunity to do nails for a well-known celebrity.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to put God at the center of everything and to keep striving for success. Do not let anything or anyone stop you from chasing your dreams. Believing in yourself will carry you much further than trying to get others to believe in you. So, keep going and don’t give up.
