Daily Inspiration: Meet Jade Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Jones.

Jade Jones

Hi Jade, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I left corporate America 8 years ago after hobby painting for the public for several years and started my own small business of refinishing cabinetry. There was and is such a need for women to be in the face of construction. We make up the 11% of women in this workforce. The key to our business is consistency, steadily producing a quality product, communication, and constantly keeping our craft in the public eye, which has made us successful. The grit. The tenacity. The ability for us to be so dependable in a lackadaisical industry has brought us to where we are today.

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not. We have no storefront or a constant reminder for people to continue bringing us their business. Facebook and word of mouth have kept us in business for this long. I made it through the COVID-19 pandemic solely because people love our work. Being a woman and a mother in this business has also been challenging. I am a single mom and have to wear many hats, including being a small business owner. Also, gaining respect as a woman in a primarily male-saturated industry has been difficult to climb.

I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are an all-woman crew that refinishes kitchen cabinetry and furniture does antique furniture restoration and does commercial/residential interior design and decorating. Our week-to-week bread and butter are refinishing kitchen cabinets. Still, in the “in-between,” we have also been designers contributing to a 750-square-foot farmhouse restoration, construction on a 12,000-square-foot mansion, many convenience stores, and a commercial bar/restaurant coming to the Tupelo, MS area! The sky is the limit for us with design, and we can’t wait to see where this journey takes us. Our proudest moments are when we are producing our best work—which we hope is always! What sets us apart from others is our attention to detail and our relationships with our clients. We hope that every job we participate in is a satisfactory business and a whole experience for whoever we work for. We also are women in this business, so we hope to change the face of construction (this is our slogan) and bring excitement back to creative design.

Alright, before we go, can you talk to us about how people can work, collaborate, or support you?
Follow our Facebook page, Magnolia Paints and Decor, share our work and before/after posts, and tell your friends about us! Our only source of business is by word of mouth. We are currently working on a website release, so stay tuned!
