Daily Inspiration: Meet Joey Cole

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joey Cole

Hi Joey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
How It All Began

Why The OUTLET APP Exists

You Have to Start Somewhere…….

Six years ago, founder and creator Joey Cole was faced with a task to take his daughter to attend a concert. Being the supportive father that he is Joey had no issue with his daughter attending this event. That was until he found out it was happening 90 miles away in IILLINOIS.

This wasn’t an extreme distance, and his daughter was able to attend and enjoy the show, but this experience fueled an ongoing idea for the OUTLET APP which Joey and his brother conceived a year prior. So many things are possible this day and age and cell phones are essentially mini pocket computers. Joey asked the question, “Why isn’t there a way to attend this concert or other shows and events right here at home, with my phone?’

In addition to this, he noticed the rise of frustrated entertainers who weren’t seeing the hundreds of thousands of streams or social media followers convert to a dollar amount that made sense. There was no platform that provided a space for entertainment exclusively and attending live shows sometimes meant traveling long distances (with increasing gas prices).

Joey started thinking of solutions to all of the aforementioned issues, brained stormed ideas with his team, found a developer and started manifesting his vision which became the OUTLET APP, an all-inclusive virtual venue for live entertainment and digital distribution where entertainment creatives get paid within 48 hours from selling audio, video and live stream content directly to their audience and keep 50% of sales.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Challenges and obstacles are inevitable when you are motivated to do something and disciplined enough to stick to your goals.

One of the main obstacles I faced was being unaware of the process and all it entails in creating an app such as the build process, the cost, time and legalities. I thought I could provide an idea, and the developers would build it. I didn’t know building an app from scratch would require giving them the placement and design of every button, screen, color scheme and logo design. It was similar to the process of building a house.

There were distance and language barriers with the first company I worked with to develop the app. After I finally got comfortable working with them, the owner of the company faced his own legal issues and the company shut down, leaving me with an unfinished product.

I basically had to start all over, but I found another developer and kept going.

Outside of building the Outlet App, it was challenging finding the balance between working a full-time job, running a part time cleaning company, a caretaker for my mother who lives 70 miles out of state and being a present and dedicated father.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I work in the transportation industry as a Class A CDL truck driver with hazmat and tanker endorsements.

I am employed full-time with a company where my duties and responsibilities include delivering CO2 to large and small chain restaurants and servicing their systems to ensure they are functioning properly.

When I’m not working at my full-time job, I am working in my own cleaning company part time and traveling to Illinois to take care of my mother.

What I’m most proud of is helping artists that have faced countless challenges in a streaming – dominated market often leading to lower revenue and less control over their art. As the music and entertainment industries continue to adapt to a digital – first approach, OUTLET APP stand at the forefront, offering creators the tools they need in this new economy allowing creators to earn and connect with their fans on a more personal level. Our mission is to provide a platform that not only enable creators to showcase their talent but also ensure they are compensated fairly and promptly. By focusing on Sales Over Streams, we create an environment where artists can thrive and build sustainable careers in the ever – evolving digital landscape and monetize their passion effectively.

What’s sets me apart is redefying the future of digital entertainment.

How do you think about luck?
Going through the ups and downs of what it took to get to this point, everything plays a role in where I am today.

Some would consider the first company of developers going out of business as bad luck, but it turned out to be a good thing because working with the new developers has been a much easier process with communication and accomplishing tasks.

I had to have pure dedication, focus, patience and discipline to stay on track with what I aimed to do.

I created the financial stability in my life to be able to support my personal life, my goals and manifest the vision.

When you consider the timing and the climate of the entertainment industry, some would say good luck played a role because this is a product that provides a solution to the many grievances that were being expressed then and now.

Luck showed up as the people who joined me in manifesting my vision and our collaborating efforts in brainstorming and being creative enough to build this app.
