Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaela Cash.
Hi Kaela, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Kaela Cash and I am a multihyphenate as I like to call myself — Producer, Singer, Songwriter, Instrumentalist, Real Estate Agent, and Notary Public. I started as a musician at the age of seven, learning to play the piano and read music. When I got to middle school at age 11, I began to play the oboe. Ever since I began, music has been a large part of my life. I played the oboe throughout high school, earning a music and academic scholarship that allowed me to attend college completely debt free. After college, music opportunities weren’t automatically given as they once were, being a requirement for obtaining my degree. This sole fact led me to my beginning music production. As a woman in music, I take great pride in being a producer in an industry where women only make up 3.4% of producers; a smaller ratio of these women are Black women.
With determination to take my music career seriously, I became an entrepreneur in 2018. I started as a lash technician; this career endeavor allowed me to make money, connect with community, and have most time to myself to pursue music opportunities. After about 5 years, I decided I wanted to serve my community in an even bigger way which led me to becoming a real estate agent. It brings me joy to serve all my communities in all capacities that are available to me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I am a firm believer that anything worth having will come with a fight. Entrepreneurship/sales is an unpredictable road. That being said, it has not been a smooth road some of the time. The global COVID pandemic was my first roadblock being an entrepreneur. Given that I was a lash technician at the time, I had to completely stop my practice for months. This was my first lesson in learning to pivot. Currently, the housing market is not the best, so once again, I pivoted and added “notary public” to my resume. During these down times of business, it always leads me back to my heartbeat: music. I am grateful for the times of struggle because it usually forces me to go full throttle in focusing on my music.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I like to encompass my titles and call myself a musician. That entails curation, beat production, executive production, singing, songwriting, composition, and at times, teaching. I am mostly known as a producer or singer when it comes to music. I am proud of myself for being a successful Black woman producer where representation is few, and support can be even fewer. My community always uplifts and supports me, and I am not only proud of that, but eternally grateful. What sets me apart is not only the fact that I am a Black woman, but the fact that I read music, understand music theory, and have been classically trained my whole life.

No, but I would love to support the community however I can! Whether homebuying workshops, selling homes, mentoring young musicians, notarizing documents, or curating an album, I would love to be remembered when there is a gap in any of these fields!
