Today we’d like to introduce you to Lacie Yancey
Lacie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m Lacie Yancey, born in Memphis, TN, and raised in Olive Branch, MS. I’ve been married to my husband, Demetric Yancey, for six years, and together we are blessed with two beautiful children, Xavier and Reign Yancey. My academic journey started with an Associate’s degree in General Studies from Northwest Community College in 2014, followed by a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Spanish from the University of Memphis in 2016. I later earned a Master’s in Educational Studies from the University of Phoenix in 2020 and a degree in Business Administration from Freed Hardeman University in 2021. I’m pursuing my Ph.D. in Business Administration, which I expect to complete in 2026.
Over the past two and a half years, I’ve worked in operations, a field where I’ve gained invaluable experience. However, in June 2024, my journey in that role unexpectedly stopped when I lost my job. Despite this setback, I remain committed to pursuing excellence in a new venture. My passion is to create opportunities for others who, like me, may have faced challenges along the way but have the potential to succeed.
In addition to my professional work, I am proud to serve as a mentor and advisor for Modern Distinctive Ladies, one of the most prestigious all-girls high school organizations, run by Dr. Tavis A. Wade-Jones, where I was once a member back in 2009. This role allows me to give back to young women and help them find their paths to success. I am also an active Outreach Leader at my church, Reformation Memphis, under the leadership of Apostle Brandon Clack, where I work to support and uplift my community.
Looking ahead, my goal is to pave the way for both myself and others, particularly those who have faced barriers in their journey, to achieve what might have seemed impossible. In 2026, when I become Dr. Lacie Yancey, I will be ready to lead, inspire, and open doors for those who need it most.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course, the road has been challenging. There have been many struggles along the way. One of the biggest challenges has been maintaining confidence in my abilities. As time has progressed, self-doubt has crept in, especially during challenging moments when things haven’t gone as planned.
The journey has become even more uncertain since losing my job in June 2024. The loss of a role I worked so hard to achieve has been challenging. However, my faith in God has remained strong through all of this. It has been the foundation that has kept me going during the most difficult times. I continue to trust in the path that is unfolding, knowing that He has something greater in store for me.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a creative, I am passionate about planning small gatherings or large celebrations—for my family and friends. I thrive in making moments memorable and meaningful. In addition to this, I oversee a group of amazing women called The Wives Circle. In this role, I help facilitate bi-monthly activities where we come together as wives to pray, learn, and grow. We meet regularly, connect deeply, and share our personal experiences, supporting each other every step of the way. It’s a space where we can pour into each other, be vulnerable, and strengthen one another. I created this group intentionally in hopes that those I encounter will be able to walk this journey of being a wife boldly and confidently.
What I am most proud of, however, is how I have handled this season of my life. Navigating unexpected challenges, like losing my job, has tested me in ways I never imagined. But I’ve learned to embrace flexibility and resilience, finding new ways to grow and keep pushing forward. Despite the difficulties, my faith and determination have kept me grounded. The way I’ve faced adversity with a sense of purpose and perseverance is something I hold dear.
What truly sets me apart from others is my ability to overcome adversity with a positive outlook and my versatility in handling whatever life throws my way. I’m not afraid to adjust plans or pivot when necessary, and I always strive to learn from each experience, using it to improve and grow.
What are your plans for the future?
As I look to the future, I am excited about the possibilities. I aspire to create a consulting firm that helps businesses enhance their workplace culture and improve their overall impact. I believe in fostering inclusive environments where everyone feels valued and supported.
While I work toward this goal, I am committed to my ongoing personal and professional development. I look forward to embracing new experiences and challenges that will help me grow and prepare for the next chapter in my career.
