Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Childers.
Hi Lisa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I embarked on my journey into the wedding planning business back in 2010, when I found myself working at a charming flower shop in North Mississippi. There, I discovered my passion for the fast-paced environment and the creative satisfaction of transforming spaces into beautiful settings. My role naturally gravitated towards handling the wedding aspect of florals, where I enjoyed meeting with brides and helping them bring their visions to life.It soon became apparent to me that brides often lacked critical information from vendors and needed more comprehensive guidance. Seeing this gap, I began assisting brides in organizing their weddings, gradually expanding my role beyond just florals. This transition was fueled further by an exciting opportunity at a floral conference I attended, where there was a scholarship program for Teleflora Wedding School in Oklahoma. To qualify, participants had to write an essay about their passion for wedding work. With genuine enthusiasm, I penned down my admiration for the wedding world, and to my delight, won the scholarship. This pivotal moment set the stage for my professional growth. Since then, I’ve been dedicated to wedding planning, feeling truly blessed to play a part in making someone’s special day as magical and worry-free as possible. My goal has always been to ensure that both the bride and her family can enjoy every precious moment without unnecessary stress.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Wedding planning is a deeply rewarding journey, though it certainly comes with its challenges. I often find myself emotionally invested in the lives of the people I work with, reminding myself that my role is to guide them on a part of their journey. I truly care for my couples, and I wish for their happiness and success. The excitement I feel on their wedding day is almost like watching a dear family member say “I do.”One of the toughest parts is when I advise against certain choices based on my experience, and they decide to go their own way. While it’s difficult to witness, I understand it’s part of learning and growing.
The other challenge is weather. When the weather is complicated, it makes everyone on edge and a lot of decisions have to be made. Every girl wants a sunshiny day!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a wedding planner dedicated to ensuring a stress-free experience for brides, I set myself apart by focusing on meticulous details and seamless coordination. My personalized approach ensures that every wedding reflects the unique preferences of the couple, allowing them to enjoy their special day without any concerns. By maintaining strong relationships and clear communication with trusted vendors, I guarantee smooth operations and timely execution of all aspects of the event. My attention to detail and creative problem-solving ensure that nothing is overlooked, resulting in flawlessly executed weddings. Over time I have done numerous destination weddings and the vendors from other areas comment that most wedding planners do not stay to the very end and do not help as much as I do. I am Team Bride all the way and that is what I like to think I am known for.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The art of adaptability. While meticulous planning is crucial, every event is unique, and unexpected issues can arise. Being able to remain calm, think on your feet, and adapt swiftly to changing circumstances ensures not only the success of the wedding but also maintains the confidence and trust of your clients. This skill is invaluable and translates well into many aspects of life and work. We have had some strange things happen during weddings and the bride never knows about the situation. It is fun to talk about afterwards. One day, I might write a book on unexpected happenings!
Also, you are as good as your team! My team of ladies are over the top incredible. I have no worries if we have multiple weddings that everything is handled to perfection.
