Daily Inspiration: Meet Patricia Pulgar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patricia Pulgar.

Hi Patricia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello! My name is Patri, I am a Graphic Designer and passionate about art.

Since I was little, I put special interest in colors and the senses, so I studied design and art.

With my graphic proposals, I want to convey the positivism and joy that I put in each one of them. I would like to convey my world of color to everyone!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Well, I really studied and I dedicate myself to what I am passionate about, but it is never easy to make a living from art or design. In addition to my e-commerce and my work as a graphic designer, I have to do parallel jobs in a family business. I am 36 years old and have 3 children, so my day is short… nothing is ever a bed of roses, you always have to strive and fight.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love colors and geometry. I adore the Memphis Milano-style and that is why my eCommerce is dedicated to this movement and its artists;

I base my designs on the “Vintage” or “Retro” character of the ’80s and early ’90s when in response to the crisis of values in the modern world a new cultural instance emerged: Postmodernity. And in particular, I am inspired by and pick up brushstrokes from a well-known group of designers led by Ettore Sottsass: The Memphis Milano group.

With their styling, above all, they wanted to provoke an emotion, whatever it was, without leaving anyone indifferent. Neutral colors stopped being important, opting for the use of other more intense, striking, and extreme tones.

Do you know what distinguishes me? I do not intend to copy, match or improve their designs, I just want to bring positivity and color to the world with my style and my reality. A Memphis-Barcelona of Pat.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
You never stop learning. You have to give importance to each day, each moment. It is not a day of life, but a day is a life.

In the world of art and design, you cannot like everyone, you simply have to enjoy what you do and then everything flows by itself.
