Today we’d like to introduce you to Rih Haley
Hi Rih, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hey y’all hey! I’m RIH NI COLE. I’m a MUA, currently in cosmetology school at Paul Mitchell. I’m a multi-passionate, so the sky is the limit is what I’ll tell anyone when if you struggle with picking just one! Honestly, God woke me out of my sleep one night, and told me to do makeup. Looking back at the time, to me it was random, but I understand that it was God’s divine intervention because I was a new mom, unmotivated, and not really sure what was next for me. Fast forward, I wanted to become licensed for multiple reasons– I was a beauty shop kid and I loved hair. My makeup career was steady but for some reason I couldn’t attract the type of makeup I enjoyed which was a BEAT face. This definitely weighed on me and I wanted out but I still remained consistent. Makeup brought me lots of joy but I had times where it just wasn’t enough… so I didn’t make the decision to end it completely, but I did take several breaks. So here I am in cosmetology school, new to Youtube, working on my personal development to become a full time speaker.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not a smooth road at all! People would sometimes have me doubting myself on whether I was good at makeup (even though I knew I was), they would say…. “I don’t really like wearing makeup” before I began, or when I was finished “Are you sure this isn’t too much?” It was very hard to continue but again, what pulled me through was me remembering God told me to do this, and that’s just what I did and relied on as faith.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am currently pursuing Youtube and I’ve been on the fence for so long because I was a perfectionist and worried WAY TOO MUCH about what people said. I feel free as I’ve ever felt. I create content for women that struggle with feminity, faith in God, and lifestyle content. I am known for my boldness. I am most proud of just starting! Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I’m such a go getter sometimes. I don’t know when to rest. I’m learning more and more when to flex those muscles.
