Today we’d like to introduce you to Shakana Adams
Hi Shakana, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2019 once I graduated school I got a job and was very unfulfilled and miserable at the job. When I was working I started to see how corrupt jobs were and I told myself if I stay here it was going to make me sad and angry. The year 2020 I started a jewelry business and I was a spiritual reader which I named. I should of kelp going but around this time business was really slow and I became impatient with the process. I realize making jewelry and being a psychic reader wasn’t something I seen myself having a long term career in. In 2021 I was still believing in my business. I then came up with the idea I just needed to pursue what I always been passionate about which was dancing .I was a majorette growing up and use to compete and dance since a small girl. I met a girl and she introduced me to pole. When I discovered pole I seen this opportunity as a two in 1. I can do what I love and still make money. From 2021-2023 I became a pole instructor and online dancer due to changes. In 2022 I went through a life changing event that led me back to a job. I figured out my situation ….and got back in alignment with pursuing pole and dance. Once I built a platform for myself I decided to change my jewelry business into a nail business and from there I have been networking and trying to build off the foundation I have created for myself. I love nails and dancing making people feel good. I love anything that allows me to have creative expression and joy.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some of the struggles along the way I’ve had is I struggle with my romantic relationships. My romantic relationships tend to put my fire out when I’m trying to focus . I’ve also had issues with financial stability due to people that doesn’t know me don’t want to support me just because. I could be the greatest at what I do and for some reason people turn the other cheek . I’ve also dealed with life changing events and having poor discernment due to lack of information.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a pole dancer,pole fitness instructor, performer and I am a nail technician. I am most proud of my motivation of just being able to keep going no matter how things look. What sets me apart from others is my confidence,my mind,what I believe in and my creative expression.
How do you think about happiness?
Freedom makes me happy and being able to do what I love to live how I want with no restrictions. What makes me happy is to be around like minded supportive people that overstands a better life and thats not scared to pursue the life that people says is impossible to have.
