Hi Sonya, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m a proud Memphis native, but my journey took me to Atlanta in 2002, where I spent 15 amazing years growing both personally and professionally. In 2015, I stepped into real estate and quickly discovered my passion for helping people find and secure their homes for the future.
At the end of 2017, I moved back to Memphis, and by 2021, I transitioned into property management, where I thrived in a fast-paced, client-focused environment. But in 2024, I faced one of my biggest challenges yet—I was laid off and felt completely lost. I prayed—a lot. Then, almost like a sign, I came across a job posting for an Assistant Office Manager at Elvin Taylor State Farm office. It felt like divine timing, and I decided to take a chance.
That decision changed everything. I fell in love with the work all over again. The team I work with feels like family, and every day, I get to help people in a meaningful way—something that has always been my passion. Insurance isn’t just about policies; it’s about people, stability, and peace of mind. It challenges me, pushes me to grow, and allows me to truly make a difference.
Looking back, every step of my journey has led me here—and I know the best is yet to come!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not!
2024 was one of the hardest years of my life. Facing uncertainty after being laid off was overwhelming—I felt lost, unsure of my next step, and questioning everything. It was a season of deep reflection, faith, and resilience. But through that struggle, I found clarity and purpose.
Losing what I thought was secure pushed me to trust the process, lean into faith, and embrace new opportunities. That’s how I landed in my current role, which has truly reignited my passion. It reminded me that sometimes, the toughest moments are just setups for the greatest blessings.
The journey hasn’t been easy, but every challenge has shaped me into who I am today. And this? This is just the beginning! I know greatness is on the horizon.

I work as an Assistant Office Manager at a Elvin Taylor State Farm agency, where I help people protect what matters most—whether it’s their home, car, business, or future. Insurance isn’t just about policies; it’s about peace of mind, security, and trust. Every day, I get to educate, guide, and support clients in making the best decisions for their needs.
What sets me apart? Definitely my passion and my personality! One thing all my clients say is that I make them feel truly comfortable. I never treat people like just another customer—I treat them the way I’d want to be treated. I take the time to listen, understand their concerns, and offer solutions that feel right for them.
I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built over time. Whether in real estate, property management, or insurance, helping people has always been my heart’s mission. The connections I make aren’t just transactional—they’re real, lasting, and meaningful.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Never give up. You won’t always have the answers, and that’s okay—just stay open, stay teachable, and keep pushing forward. Life will test you, but every storm eventually passes, and when it does, the sun shines even brighter. Trust the process, lean on God, and know that He is always guiding your steps. Embrace the lessons, walk in faith, and always lead with passion and compassion!
