Daily Inspiration: Meet Tenakey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tenakey

Hi Tenakey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey started with a deep passion for both music and performing. I began by dancing and modeling in various music videos, which fueled my desire to pursue a career in entertainment. My acting breakthrough came with a role in Season 6 of ‘Power,’ leading to more opportunities, including appearances on Now That’s TV’s ‘Coming Up Miami,’ ‘The Mint,’ and ‘The Breakdown.’ My love for music has always been at the core of who I am, leading to the release of my latest single, ‘It’s Givin’.’ Through it all, I’ve stayed true to my roots, always striving to inspire and connect with my audience.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest hurdles has been battling self-doubt and navigating a male-dominated industry that can be quite devious at times. I’ve faced moments where taking shortcuts seemed like the easy option, but I’ve stayed true to my values, knowing that my integrity is worth more than any quick success. It’s been a longer journey because of that, but I believe that by faith, my time is coming, and the right opportunities will align when they’re meant to.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work spans both acting and music, and I’m passionate about merging these two worlds to create a unique artistic experience. I specialize in storytelling through my roles on screen and in my music, with my latest single, ‘It’s Givin’,’ being a testament to that. I’m known for my energetic performances, whether as a dancer, model, or artist. What sets me apart is my refusal to conform to industry pressures and my commitment to authenticity. I’m most proud of staying true to myself and persevering despite the challenges.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice for those just starting out is to stay true to who you are and trust your journey. It’s easy to get caught up in comparisons or feel pressured to take shortcuts, but remember that what’s meant for you won’t pass you by. Surround yourself with a solid support system, and don’t be afraid to say no to things that don’t align with your values. I wish I had known the importance of patience and resilience when I started, but I’ve learned that every setback is a setup for a bigger comeback.
