Today we’d like to introduce you to Terion Porter
Hi Terion, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
All my child hood i had a thing for music. I used to ride around with my dad and we would listen to all type of music i mean anything LOL. I’ve always had an ear for good music especially music with sample in them just . My journey started in middle school . I started to pull away from sports so my parents took me out eventually . I then begun to find interest in other things and that’s what led to music production . I would wake up and get straight on the computer, come home from school and repeat, until i got good at it .Then once i gotta feeling my self a little bit i begun to network by using instagram .Around This Time I found my producer name “TPERC” Then once my traction picked up i started to sell beats here and there around summer 2020. My first placement that i was known for was a local club song i made with my guy kp huncho . Around november i ended up with working with lil double 0 This was the first major artist i worked with . The song is called percs calling ,i used a old future sample .This was the song that stated a whole lil movement for me in a way .I also started my youtube around this time and this led to working with more artist such as BigXThaplug & Mac critter to name a few . I graduated highschool MAy 2021 during covid. I used all the money i had made off selling beats and moved to atlanta fresh out of high school .This was stage in life were it was a lot of trial and error, but i met good people and mad lots of connections . I would wake up hit the gym and make music every day, to the point to i had to drop out of school to put my all into it .
I had lots of music release during this time .
I soon started to travel and network and build connections which definitely help me grow as a producer and as a young one in the industry . Around 2023 i moved back to memphis from atlanta for a couple months. I believe this was the best thing to do . It felt like i was starting over again in way. I felt like that high school kid that was always focused on the computer making music again . I made my biggest song as of now while being in memphis so it was only right to go back home for a while . Songs such as Gucci Mane Take Det , Nle choppa Aunty Living Room, Lil Double O Freebirds Mixtape . Artist like Mac Critter, Fto Sett Idk jeffery, Juicy j Underground legend Chris Travis, Duke Deuce, and Glockianna to name a few . This is what got me to where i’m at today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No , some struggles were getting out of my shy shell and being more open to being around people . I had many sleepless nights and missed plenty family time to get to where i’m at today .
I would say struggled with being able to balance my personal life with work, but that’s about it .
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Im a music producer from Memphis Tn . I pretty much come up with an idea and put it in motion which is how you get beats, or in other words the instrumentals that the artist would rap or sing on.
Im known for my sample selection . This comes from being in the car and listening to my father playlist , grandma playing her slow jams, grandad giving me records .I belive this one of the things that set me apart from others. Another is probably just my vibe im always willing to work with someone i genuinely connect with. I love to meet new artist and just create , i feel that i’m very open to just grow with all types of artist .
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see my producer group LabRxcks being a top label for new talent. I see myself having a headquarters and studios in all major cities and all Memphis.
