Daily Inspiration: Meet TezzyJayy

Today we’d like to introduce you to TezzyJayy.

Terrance Finnie

Hi, TezzyJayy; thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started doing music early in middle school, from poems to lyrics. I have always been in the choir. In 8th grade at Kipp Academy, they put me in the studio first at Young Avenue Sound. When I entered high school, 11th grade was the summer of 2013. I started releasing music on SoundCloud. I started building my fan base early. So now I have made history in my city by being the first openly gay male rapper to get my music played on the radio Hot 107 in 2021 by DJ LNB The Twins, and now since dropped my latest single, “Freak Like That “I have been in rotation s/o to DJ ZETTA & DJ Q Memphis & Hot 107.1 they show love to independent artist. Also, in 2019, I went viral for the first time for my personality. I have always been an outgoing, outspoken person & now people across the world know. In 2022, that video got me on Judge Mathis’s Court Show. It aired in 2023, and it still has to stop. I went viral over a cookie; I did well over 3 million views & it’s been up ever since till now. I’m a media personality.

Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being from Memphis is an obstacle & challenge itself self, especially being gay from south Memphis, so it hasn’t been smooth, but I always had that IDGAF attitude. People respect me & some don’t. I’m going to do me.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. What can you tell our readers who might need to be more familiar with what you do?
I’m a Media Personality/ Music Artist & I specialize in being me. I’m known for going viral because of my personality and music. Every day, I promote myself. The thing I’m most proud of is that I keep going. I have been running after my dreams since I was a little boy, and even after my heart surgery, I continue doing it. What makes me different from others is no one can give off this energy I have when I’m on stage or behind a camera. It’s only one of me.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I went to the studio with my classmate for the first time to record in 8th grade.
