Daily Inspiration: Meet Vaqueros Grill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vaqueros Grill.

Hi Vaqueros, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It all started when one of my sisters called us in the morning to ask if we wanted to be part of a project of meat on the Wood, to be sold from her home in Oakland, because in Memphis nobody offered Meat and pork on the Wood and it was a way to be pioneers in the market. Immediately accept! It was a small project to be carried out from home, but where we were going to work only on weekends and with little initial money. It sounded appealing, but we had no idea how to start. As the days went by, a wooden box with a motor was built that would be the main worker in our business. Once the box was obtained, we all thought that if we rather execute that project with the purchase of a used food truck but to be worked from Memphis. We looked for budgets, we visited used trucks, and again the uncertainty of asking ourselves was born: Why don’t we think about buying a food truck on credit? The idea was not to spend the little capital we had, but rather using the credit we would have money left over to invest in the interior plus the required permits. Hand in hand with all this, we meet every Saturday to test food, menu, logo, truck colors, uniforms, location, where we spend approximately three months to get the true Venezuelan flavor.

And suddenly the truck arrived!!! We were happy but worried because everything was already coming true. The next step was to obtain permits from Shelby, inspection, and more.

We moved the truck to 8555 Macon Rd Cordova Tn 38018 and opened our doors on May 07, 2022.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Without a doubt, it has been an arduous road, due to the language, lack of knowledge regarding new businesses in the USA, lack of knowledge of suppliers, time taken to prepare each food.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Ok, we are 6 partners, and I will give you a brief summary.

In relation to our foods, I sincerely think that they are totally healthy, with 100% natural ingredients, such as the fabulous Cachapa dish that is made from corn without preservatives and that is made daily and with a preparation of stripping, peeling and mixture, very complex that requires time, love and dedication.  The meat and pork on a stick, differs from the usual grill, because its preparation process is with 5 hours of preparation roasting on a firewood and with a stick in the middle.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What we like the most are the growth opportunities it offers, both professionally and personally. In addition to having an excellent geographical location.

What we like least is the winter season. We are taking forecasts on the subject to be able to work in the cold season.
