Hi Kay, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Micheala but everybody calls me Kay for short. I am the CEO of Glow Aesthetics Memphis. I have been an aesthetician for 2 years.
When I first started, I didn’t know what an Esthetician was, I was more so doing it for the time frame. (6 months).
I had just had my baby girl. I was looking for a quick way out I guess you can say. When I got enrolled in school and started actually doing it, I fell in love. I fell in love with the reaction people give you when you make them feel beautiful.
I loved meeting new people and just all around giving out that good energy. When you are an esthetician, you really gotta love what you do. The bond I create with my clients is something I can cherish forever.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Trust me when I say this has not been easy. I 100% support myself with everything. It takes a lot of sacrifices, you go broke investing in yourself, & you DO NOT sleep. I never gave up because this is my dream.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a Brazilian wax specialist. I offer full body waxing, vajacials, & facials.
People mostly know me for leaving their intimate areas as I would say “fall off the bone”. What sets me apart from others is my energy. People always tell me they love talking to me because I am relatable I guess.
I don’t know, people just love venting to me. I am most proud of honestly just how far I’ve come. I used to be so nervous to even start a Brazilian. Once I got in my grove, I took off ever since.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I really see myself owning my own shop. My dream is to be able to help upcoming estheticians.
I really just wanna be very blunt with them about this business. I want them to know the good & the ugly. I also just want to give them a platform that allows them to come up easily.
It is tedious when gaining clients, you just have to stay consistent and never give up.
