Exploring Life & Business with Queen Zulu of WAPBRUNCH

Today we’d like to introduce you to Queen Zulu.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We launched Women Affirming Our Power Brunch on 26th September 21. Going through a difficult time, I felt myself yearning for a sisterhood community.

As well as guidance from seasoned & mature women who walked this path before, who would have gained experience & advice to pass on. I was in need of a Cicely Tyson & Maya Angelou tag team moment like the scene from Madea’s family reunion.

But not having access to Queens with that knowledge & wisdom made it super difficult for that moment to become a reality.

Thus the birth of WAP, we connect every generation from 18 to 65 years old through brunches, networking events, workshops & self-defense sessions. Bridging the gap between the generations creates bonds, sisterhood & brings back the trust within our community.

Our mission is to create & promote self-love, a self-care space where we Black women can affirm our power, dine in beautiful spaces, listen to talks from experienced women, network, share our stories, share knowledgeable advice, meet potential clients, and just enjoy being in the presence of other like-minded women from every generation.

“Let’s have more collaboration over competition.”

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our journey has not been an easy one thus far, it’s definitely not a mission for the faint-hearted. Lol. I think one of the most difficult challenges, has been getting others the see the version, importance & the goal of WAPBRUNCH.

We are aware that there is not anything like WAPBRUNCH that includes every generation.

Most social clubs have an age limit or a specific type of women. WAPBRUNCH welcomes every type of Black woman who wants to better themselves, share good vibes & connect with each other.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
As well as our WAP brunches & WAP X-Change networking events.

Another great aspect of WAPBRUNCH is our workshops & personalized WAP Wellness centre. We recently launched our Branding 101 Masterclass workshop. A collaboration with Designed by Jujubeng & the Renaissance Studio. Where we have a vast age range from women 21 years to 57 years currently attending our course. Our Branding 101 Masterclass is for everyone!

Each attendee is given a personalized wordbook to complete tasks throughout our 4 session workshop. We have also partnered with other known brands to bring more workshops like this to the community. In our WAP Wellness centre, you will be transported to an instant SACRED retreat with our WAP holistic REVITALISING packages. Focusing on activating, balancing, and motivating your mind, body, and soul.

We believe these key elements each make up our WELLNESS CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE, and once aligned improve your overall health and well-being. Our WAP Wellness packages have your entire being covered from head to toe, and as a result will lead to better decision making, breathing, stress management, reduced conflict, healing, goal setting, higher productivity, focus, and improved blood circulation – each setting each Queen up for success.

We also are gearing up to celebrate our one-year anniversary in September, we have partnered with some incredible sponsors and guest appearances. Bringing our Queens the best WAPBRUNCH experience to date! You can expect a lot from WAPBRUNCH this year, be sure to check our handles out!

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
In the next 5-10 years WAPBRUNCH will for sure be international, we plan on bringing WAPBRUNCH to the most iconic cities to create the most iconic experiences ever.

We also plan on partnering with tons of women-owned businesses & brands internationally to further promote collaboration over competition globally. We’re bringing sisterhood back like a 90’s sitcom.
