Heart to Home Healthcare Services began as a compassionate response to a critical need within the community right before the COVID-19 pandemic. Originally launched as a homecare agency, the company was created to support an often overlooked and underserved population—senior citizens who lacked access to consistent, quality care during an unprecedented public health crisis.
Recognizing the vulnerability of this demographic, Heart to Home focused on providing personalized, in-home support to help seniors remain safe, healthy, and connected while isolated from family and traditional care systems. However, as the pandemic continued to evolve and restrictions impacted the delivery of homecare services, the company faced mounting operational challenges.
In a bold and strategic move to sustain our mission and remain viable, Heart to Home pivoted from homecare services to become a certified medical laboratory. This transition allowed the company to continue serving the community—this time by providing essential testing and diagnostic services, including COVID-19 testing, which was in high demand.
Through resilience and adaptability, Heart to Home has remained committed to its core purpose: supporting the health and well-being of underserved populations, particularly seniors, in times of greatest need.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Upon opening our doors we quickly encountered significant challenges. Lockdowns, health risks, and fear among clients led to decreased demand for homecare services, while rising costs for PPE and safety protocols strained resources. With limited revenue and delays in support funding, sustaining operations became increasingly difficult. Transitioning required navigating complex licensing, hiring specialized staff, and sourcing equipment during national shortages—all while operating under intense time pressure. Our team faced the emotional weight of pivoting away from their original caregiving mission, all while managing the stress and uncertainty of the pandemic. Despite these obstacles, our team adapted with resilience, transforming its operations to continue serving the community in a new and essential way.
