Hidden Gems: Meet Alicia Hill of ACG Brand Management

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Hill.

Alicia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?

My name is Alicia Hill, and I am the founder of A Career Girl (ACG) Brand Management LLC. I am a proud, mother and grandmother. I was born and raised in Memphis, TN. I have had opportunities to travel the world and learn various cultures and training techniques.

Over the years, I have done great work within the communities and schools motivating individuals and aiding in enhancing their careers. All while working in corporate America to ensure brand value. What started out being a voice for those seeking to develop/enhance their careers quickly became a passion.

From working with high schools, participating in career development for colleges/universities, to offering promotional preparation to peers, along with training corporate teams on how to be the brand of the company (emphasizing customer experience and leadership) ACG was born. I have over 20 years of combined experience in leadership, marketing, sales, learning and development, strategic planning, and project management.

I am also an adjunct professor at Christian Brothers University where I teach Brand and Integrated Customer Marketing in the MBA program. My give back to the community includes coaching and mentoring boys ages 8-18 as the Chairman of the Board for Developing Noblemen Academy (D.N.A.) I am the VP of Membership for the National Black MBA Association, Memphis Chapter. I am also the lead for the Leaders of Tomorrow program with the Memphis chapter as well.

I am an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated – Beta Epsilon Omega Chapter, where I serve as a Co-chairman of our Teenage Improvement Club (TIC). I believe in God, the creator of Heaven and Earth. He is my everything. I depend on God and allow Him to order my steps, to live out the purpose in which He created me for.

For me, being my authentic self, playing to my strengths, and networking has gotten me where I am today. I set goals and keep them top of mind, not allowing myself to make excuses. My motivation has always been, “don’t put off till tomorrow what you can do today.”

We all face challenges but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I had a rocky start early in life due to decisions I made.  As a teenage mom, my experiences made me use strengths I didn’t know I had. After completing high school, I felt like I could accomplish more. Although I had limited resources, I was smart enough to maximize what I had.

I had a child and no car. Therefore, I chose to attend Christian Brothers University because it was in walking distance. CBU wasn’t your average University. I knew I had to work hard to graduate. To keep better than average grades, work a full-time job, and parent my son, I graduated on a 5-year plan. The diversity and culture of CBU prepared me for corporate America. I spent 7 years at Enterprise Rent A Car after college followed by 13 years at FedEx.

The experiences I gained afforded me the opportunity to become an entrepreneur. Today, I have gained great momentum with my company by networking, going the extra mile, and managing my brand. I am excited about my future! I am expecting ACG to become a national brand!
