Hi Angelita, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My name is Angelita Parham, but everyone knows me as Angie Steele. My background consists of 15+ years in the beauty industry and owning a salon & styling hair. During the 2020 COVID-pandemic, I was forced to shut down my business due to the federal mandate of not being classified as an essential worker. My daughter had just started her first year at the University of Mississippi, and I had a son & home to maintain.
I wasn’t sure where this road was taking me, so I pivoted and created a beauty cosmetic brand online. Three years later, SteeleDivine Cosmetics has maintained its creativity and added a beauty agent influencer opportunity for others that love makeup to sell and earn money.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to entrepreneurship isn’t always smooth however, I’m grateful for the challenges. Challenges have helped me to grow and build resilience.
When I first launched the SteeleDivine Cosmetic brand I started with just lipsticks and kept selling out. I had to think of a way to keep my audience engaged and sales up. I can remember slow periods of sales, and realized I needed to grab the bulls by the horn and really dive into this new area of the beauty industry.
As you know, we’re big fans of SteeleDivine Cosmetics. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
SteeleDivine Cosmetics is a cosmetics brand that launched in the year 2020. We pride ourselves on providing vegan, gluten-free, clean, and beautiful makeup products for all. Our business service line has grown so, that we now provide makeup application services for all occasions, 1-on-1 makeup classes, and has launched a beauty agent sales program.
We specialize in showing women how to apply professional makeup application and products anyone can use.
SteeleDivine Cosmetics is most proud of its efforts in connecting beauty with entrepreneurship. Our beauty agents are now able to EARN money through sales like larger competitors such as AVON and MaryKay. SteeleDivine is a local area business from the streets of Memphis, TN and we are truly proud of our roots and the support we have received.
Who else deserves credit for your story?
We must give credit to all of our clients for their honesty around each product and for cheering us on in moments of doubt. Mentors that we just love and appreciate are Dr. Anna Jackson & Deborah Townsend.
These two wonderful ladies have always expressed and imparted words of wisdom that keep us blooming. I don’t think people understand how you should always keep good company-we have the best!
