Hi Britney, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been in the hair industry for 11yrs. I started out with an excitement to provide extension & color services for clients. I worked in 4 different salons under amazing leadership & ultimately strived for my own salon but I didn’t know exactly how I wanted it to be. I just knew I didn’t want it to be average. I took a break from hair as I tried to figure things out & got into the medical industry. I went back to school & worked in the medical field during the pandemic. I loved working with patients but it wasn’t where I felt I could make the most impact. People would ask me about hair loss & I didn’t have the answers. I sought out training & courses & once I dove completely into the world of hair loss, I knew that’s where I wanted to be! I jumped out there with zero clients, leased a space, & hit the ground running full speed. It’s a learning process but 3yrs later, Bennett Beauty Solutions has grown as a true beauty resource for clients dealing with medical hair loss through education, services, & products! We continuously look for new ways to provide our clients with hair care that exceeds their expectations & experiences with quality work, products, & attention on an individual basis. We don’t just do their hair, we collaborate to provide solutions & build relationships that empower every single client!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
A SMOOTH road?! What is that?! It definitely hasn’t been. I’ve always been a driven person so as I mentioned earlier I jumped out into the entrepreneurial waters head first with no life jacket! I signed a lease for my 1st salon suite with absolutely zero clients! I had no idea how I was going to pay for anything but I knew I had to make it work because I wanted to help & I knew I could really make a difference. Funding is not always simply thrown at entrepreneurs especially black entrepreneurs & even more especially black women entrepreneurs. I invested a lot of time & money, made sacrifices, learned new skills & jumped on opportunities to get my business started, keep it afloat, & grow. Statistically most businesses fail in the 1st 5 years. I wasn’t going to let that happen. I changed my strategy several times. I introduced new products & services & scrapped others. I gave surveys to clients to better understand their needs. Sometimes I just sat in my bedroom, office, or salon starring into space thinking of my next move because something didn’t work as I had planned. I even lost my 1st location & within 2 weeks secured another so I didn’t leave my clients hanging! Struggles can make or break you but true winners always come out on top! Bennett Beauty Solutions has come a long way since opening in 2022!
We’ve been impressed with Bennett Beauty Solutions, LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Bennett Beauty Solutions is a beauty agency that specializes in serving clients with medical hair loss. Hair loss is often embarrassing & can take a toll on people emotionally, physically, psychologically & financially. Most of our clients have been diagnosed with some form of alopecia & aren’t sure what options they have for treatment or hair care options. Most of our clients have survived cancer, or are currently experiencing medical issues that result in hair loss. We focus on providing services & products that coincide with their medical treatments or advisory. With the medical issues our clients experience we don’t introduce harsh chemicals in our services so we developed our own line of chemical free scalp & hair care products called SEED., that work with the body to encourage scalp & hair nourishment, health, & promote growth. We provide aesthetic hair care services such as partial & complete cranial prosthesis application to not only give our clients coverage where alopecia has affected them, but to restore their confidence & put the power back in their hands as they face every day knowing they have a team of people who work with them to make sure they are experiencing a quality of life that they want! From the moment they contact us, to the consultation, to the actual service, we embark on the journey with each client on an individual basis to understand them & what they need, then we work alongside them to create a strategy that suites their needs, & offer them education as well as communication & follow through all in a comforting & private setting. We work by appt only to ensure every client has the time they need to be properly serviced without interruption & they get our specialist’s complete attention. No 2 people’s situation is the same & at Bennett Beauty Solutions we SEE each & every client we work with.

As I mentioned before I’ve worked under the leadership of some amazing people! La’Keysha Bowden, LaKeisha @ Salon Gemini, Christen Francis, Lindsay Cummings, as well as some amazing teachers that helped shape my skills Natasha Peyton, Nicole Trotter, & Tawanda Kinzer. My family has supported me in various ways. Whenever I need information or am bouncing ideas they offer advice & support. Maya, Marissa, & Shanna @ Lux have all been amazing suite mates that make the work environment enjoyable & I often observe & learn from their expertise as well!
