Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Bradley.
Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us how you got started?
I’m Chelsea, and I run b.naked. I’m originally from North Carolina, but I’ve lived in Illinois, San Diego, Hawaii, Virginia, and now Tennessee! I’m a wife, Momma to a gorgeous 16-month-old girl, currently serving active duty Navy, stationed in Millington! I initially started b.naked as an all-natural bath products company, but through my work, I found that both products weren’t my calling, and I didn’t have the passion for it. I knew that I wanted to run a business with the b.naked name, and I wanted to provide a service, but I couldn’t figure out what that would be. Fast forward to me getting my boudoir photos done and feeling absolutely amazing during and after, as well as seeing some of the creative shoots other photographers were pulling off, and I knew this was it. It took me a long time to take that first step into starting the business, but now that I have, I can’t believe I didn’t start sooner. I want to create a fun, empowering, luxury photo experience for anyone who wants one. I want to help people feel comfortable in their skin and give them the confidence they may have been struggling to find. I want to get creative and do photo shoots that some would say are against the norm, break barriers and take it to the next level. I also run my sessions in some form of lingerie when my clients are okay with it. I don’t ever feel like you should be the only half-naked one in the room (or the park or the street) I’m excited about what I’m building and what my clients can help me accomplish along the way.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say it’s not been easy. Photography, in general, is such a saturated market, I think, because it’s so easy to pick up a camera, snap some photos, throw a filter on it, and call yourself a photographer. I am trying to find that edge, that creativity that sets you apart and shows you as an artist can be difficult. We also live where studio space is limited if you can’t afford to open your own. There aren’t many available to be with, and I’ve booked several different studios that have all fallen through because of overbooking or just no response from the studio owner. I will say that the most straightforward thing has been building relationships with clients. I’ve had the opportunity to work with some incredible women. I have just had a fantastic experience meeting these ladies, getting to know them, working with them, and seeing what these photography experiences do in their lives.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about b.naked boudoir?
I specialize in boudoir photography. Specifically, creating a luxury photo experience from start to finish that makes a client feel like absolute royalty from start to finish. I am also working on my creative profile, doing styled shoots such as Halloween/Spooky-themed shoots, couple shoots, etc. I think that the creative aspect of it is one thing that sets me apart, as well as the relaxed atmosphere I like to shoot. I want my clients to be relaxed and have a fantastic time. I dress in lingerie to make them feel less self-conscious (if they’re open to that), I curate a playlist based on their personal preference, we laugh and joke, and I take direction from them as much as they take direction from me. I want to get my clients the photos they want to look at for a lifetime. It’s not about me and my portfolio, which will grow regardless. It’s always about the client.
