Hi Damon, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I moved to the US in 2012, no friends, no connection, and no money, nothing. Started working in a factory for $8.5/hour for living After finding out I was having my daughter, I needed more money, so I started doing nails after work as a second job for extra income, and that’s how I got in to nail business.
And I have been working hard every day to get where I am today, a business owner, Valentino Educator/Distributor.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It is everything but definitely not a smooth road, the culture shock, language barrier, different lifestyle, etc. When I first got here, not many people could understand me at the time. So, I barely spoke to anyone, always shy and isolated myself.
And because school tuition fee was expensive at the time, so the first year I learned English mostly on Youtube, on average 14-18 hours a day. I had never done nails before, had no knowledge or any ideas about nails, ironically, and I am now International Nail Educator
As you know, we’re big fans of Ho Best Nails LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Our salon specializes in Nail art, extremely long nails for competition nail contests Valentino Beauty Pure is the top knot product in the nail industry.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The nail business is definitely booming at this moment and will be so much bigger in the next 5-10 years. We, the Nails Artists work as hard as everyone else in the beauty business, and urgently want to take back the respect we’re deserved just like Hairstylists, Makeup artists, and Barbers, like everyone else in the beauty industry.
We will be the celebrities in the beauty industry just like Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Tom Cruise, or any other celebrities in their business.
