Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Inman
Hi Kelly, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi, my name is Kelly Inman. I love all things WEDDINGS!!!
I began my professional journey in the wedding industry as a wedding coordinator in 2016. I quickly realized how much I loved the hustle and excitement that came with making couples dreams a reality. I spent countless hours planning timelines, liaising with vendors, and ensuring that very last detail was taken care of. It wasn’t just about executing a vision; it was about understanding the couples unique love story and weaving that into every part of their special day.
Over the next few years, I grew more and more passionate about weddings in general. I learned the ins and outs of the industry and honed my skills with each event I worked on. But it wasn’t enough to just coordinate. I wanted to do more. I wanted to be there from the very beginning, helping couples navigate the entire planning process, from venue selection to budgeting to the smallest details like decor and styling. I was given the task of planning the wedding for a close friend that was getting married. She asked for my help with some of the smaller details, and from that moment on, I was hooked. There was something magical about organizing such an important event seeing all the moving pieces come together to create something truly unforgettable.
That desire and opportunity led me to take the leap into wedding planning. I wanted to be the guiding hand that couples relied on from the moment they said, “I do” to the proposal, to the final send-off at the end of the night. Becoming a wedding planner gave me the possibility to dive deeper into every aspect of the wedding journey. I could now take on the role of trusted advisor, helping couples with everything from selecting the perfect vendors to curating the perfect design. I loved helping them turn their ideas into a reality, offering guidance and support every step of the way.
As I evolved from a coordinator to a full-fledged planner, I discovered how much my work could shape a couples experience. It is not just about managing logistics it is about creating an experience that they would remember forever. From the joyful moments to the unexpected challenges, every aspect of the process is an opportunity to make a couples day even more special.
Looking back, I am proud of how far I’ve come. What started as a side project has blossomed into a fulfilling career. I’ve learned so much along the way, not just about weddings, but about people, relationships, and how to create something meaningful out of hard work, passion, and love. Now, as a wedding planner, I continue to pour my heart into every event, knowing that each one is a new adventure with its own unique story.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Wedding Planning & Coordinating is very exciting but also very overwhelming. Here are some common struggles couples face:
1) Budget management: Setting & sticking to a budget can be challenging. Costs quickly add up with venues, vendors, decorations, and other expenses, leading to stress if things go over budget.
2) Vendor Selection: Finding reliable vendors for photography, DJ, Caterer, etc… I have my own Preferred Vendor List of professionals that I have worked with for many events. Its up to the couple to decide where they want to cut cost. But if they choose a DJ that is a friend, well, that doesn’t usually turn out well. Please trust the professionals!!
3) Family issues: As a wedding planner, the stress of family situations can be one of the most challenging aspects of the job. Families often bring a mix of expectations, emotions & dynamics that can complicate the planning process. Whether it is conflicting opinions, emotional pressure, budget disagreements, family drama, unrealistic expectations, last minute changes or unforeseen personal circumstances, navigating all of this requires diplomacy, patience and a strong sense of organization. It can be emotionally draining on everyone but my primary focus is the BRIDE and what she wants.
