Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenosha Chastang.
Hi Kenosha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In 2019, I got started in the Sports Marketing space after transitioning from working in healthcare. How I got started in the space was through relationships in sports and entertainment.
Occasionally, I would receive a call to assist with contracts or for consultation. from friends, colleagues, and referrals.
Many of those calls were calls for help to leave not-so-beneficial situations. I began to think perhaps this is the space that I should be working in and that I am needed in.
During that time, my son began to play sports and became more competitive in the space which inspired me to move forward. So I began to do so, however, I did not want to do it alone.
Then one day, I randomly received a call that someone wanted to connect with me about sports and marketing. In comes my now partner, Jamael Lynch with an idea that I was working on. It matched perfectly, that day VGI was born.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I can say it has definitely not been a smooth road at all. However, it has been a fast road, to say the least. We actually started with 3 partners and due to creative differences that did not work, but we stayed the course.
The clients well while we have an excellent client base we definitely had to learn through bad experiences how to filter out the clients that were not so positive. Being an African-American woman in the space has its own unique set of challenges when creating a startup company.
In order to compete with the CAA’, Wassermann and William Morris Agency’s I definitely had to be determined, diligent, and persistent.
We’ve been impressed with VGI Consulting, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
