Today we’d like to introduce you to LaTarsha Head.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m from Memphis, TN. At the start of my high school years, my parents move us to Bartlett, TN, I being school at Bartlett High School where I begin my cosmetology studies.
I graduated in 2007 and enrolled in Plaza Beauty School where I completed 1500 hours. I got my start in the hair industry at Fantastic Sam where I spent 10 years perfecting my craft. In mid-2021, I took a leap of faith bet on myself, and started my own business LHeadHair Salon, 2833 Bartlett Blvd Suite 104, Bartlett, TN 38134.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
In 2017, I lost my father to colon cancer the first person I lost that I was so close to me. It put me in a major depression that I did understand I was in denial. I made it through.
At the time was 6 years in at a corporate salon. In 2021, I decided to become an independent hair stylist and in August 2021 my brother was killed by a drunk driver. My brother is why I working hard with my salon LHEADHAIR.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in diverse hair I always wanted to be the stylist and no matter what somebody looks like no matter their gender, race, or identity as long as they have hair, I was here to make them beautiful. I want to be the first hairstylist who is known for her diversity inside her salon.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
In 2022, I started the journey to heal my mental health/my overall health in general.
Nobody knows I dealt with depression and anxiety for over 5 years. 2023 was the first year I started to enjoy my life while healing my mental health this is how I came up with my slogan for my salon “Welcome to LHeadHair where joy and laughter come with BEAUTY” I want to bring joy and laughter to everyone who sits in my chair. Joy can make someone’s day much better.
