Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Butler.
Hi Megan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
As a young girl I watched my mother put on her makeup every morning before going to work as part of her daily routine. Never did I think I would mimic her example but I did in that area. As I matured into an adult I would begin doing the same thing. Wearing makeup made me feel more confident about myself . So around 2013 my cousin introduced me to some cheap eyelashes to play with and see how they would look on us. It was a struggle to get those plastic lashes on but we put up a fight lol and finally got them on. We liked the way they looked on us. So every now and then I would apply those lashes my cousin gave me on for a special occasion if I wanted more than just mascara. That was the beginning of my love for eyelashes.
In 2015 I went back to school to get my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at Lane College because I wanted a change in my career and while attending classes there I met so many young entrepreneurs. In 2019 I begin thinking to myself if these young students have their own business I can have my own as well. So I started brainstorming about things I loved and that is when I decided that I wanted my own eyelash business because as women we love to look and feel beautiful and eyelashes give an instant transformation.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road at all. Some of the challenges I have experienced as a business owner were how to market my brand on social media, business growth and the impact of covid on the economy which slowed down deliveries of packages from overseas.
