Inspiring Conversations with Alex Strange

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Strange.

Hi Alex, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I have always wanted to open my own business, but I definitely didn’t think I would open a liquor store at 6 months pregnant.

After college, my husband and I moved back to his home in DeSoto County. Being from Florida, I didn’t know the town, the people, or even what I wanted to do. Working in town locally, I witnessed first-hand the growth of Silo Square and knew I wanted to be a part of it. I wanted a little shop where customers with a ton of knowledge or no knowledge of wine and liquor could find something to quench their thirst.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
One of the biggest challenges of this whole process was pregnancy. We struggled with infertility and pregnancy during the planning/opening of Thirsty Oak. Now being open for 1 year and having an amazing 10-month-old boy, I would do it all again. No doubt!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Thirsty Oak?
Thirsty Oak is a new boutique wine and liquor store located in Silo Square!

Silo Square is the new recreational leisure district in Southaven, MS. Thirsty Oak strives to stock the best selection of bourbon and wine as well as complete custom orders for customers.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
We strive to have the best customer service, we want you to feel zero pressure and be able to ask any questions about our products. Helping a customer find a new favorite drink, that’s what brings us happiness at Thirsty Oak.
