Today we’d like to introduce you to Catrese Fields.
Hi Catrese, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Born in Newark New Jersey… my mother was murdered when I was 5 years old… grandparents took me and my brother to Williamston North Carolina and we were back and forth from the city to the country. After so many life hits I had a passion to help others. Nobody in my immediate family graduated from high school and never attended college.
I wanted to break the cycle. So I made sure I finished school and went to college. I began in the healthcare and mental health field and then transitioned to the nonprofit sector. I stumbled into the corporate world and human resources became my love! After being laid off, I entered the entrepreneurial world and I built businesses for myself and thousands of others in multiple states and it landed me in the Entertainment world.
In the midst of all of this, I was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2019 after going through a divorce. I had major surgery in January and the pandemic hit us hard in March and I had to shut down my makeup business. I was doing great and then I opened back up again later that year only for COVID to hit harder! I had to close it again but my other businesses began to thrive.
I am an Author, Speaker, Event Host, Business Adjuster, Tax Preparer, Model, Talk Show Host, Promoter, Artist Manager, Writer, Photographer, Actress, and Makeup Artist with my own makeup line of products. I am in the process of writing a film and inspirational messages.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Entrepreneurship is hard work and long hours. I knew that there would be down times and high times.
Being able to select the right people to work in your company and represent your brand in excellence was a struggle in the beginning so the retention was exhausting. Then I began to utilize what I studied in college. I had to screen effectively for hiring people to be on my team.
We are always basing everything off of performance but personality and their history plays an enormous part. My next struggle hit when the pandemic hit but it didn’t completely stop me. It shut me down but I rose back up and continued to push through every barrier I face.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have three businesses that I am proud of and they all are my passion! Le’Bleu Diamond Corporation provides services for all businesses to promote and enforce or establish compliance, structure, legal needs, and growth. These services include consulting in startups, branding, marketing, documentation and contracts, tax preparation, coaching, access to attorneys 24/7, loans, grants, commercials, and graphic design.
LWV Ladies With Vision Inc is my nonprofit organization that gives back to the community through events. We feed and clothe the homeless and provide entertainment. We cater to the needs of the community and provide resources through events for their needs whether it’s healthcare, business, domestic violence, marriage, relationships, music, sports, etc.
We have classes that give knowledge on business, modeling, acting, filming, photography, makeup, and anything in career building or becoming an entrepreneur. BossCat Entertainment LLC is the business that I adore! I started the Ask Cat Live talk show and people get to ask whatever they want and I give them the answers. I also bring people on my show to share what they do in life and bring up life topics.
My partner and I host all types of events, give great information on the talk show, manage music artists, and so much more. I am currently writing for a film we will be producing and another book I will be publishing. This business is all entertainment and I have placed subsidiaries underneath it such as my new makeup line I will be coming out with soon. I still have my other makeup line called Le’Bleu Diamond Cosmetics.
The difference with my brand is that we truly care about our clients and consumers. We maintain relationships with them. It’s not just about selling a product or providing a service. We want to impact their life in a positive way that will be planted in their hearts forever.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was a child without a mother because she was murdered and without a father, because he chose to live his own life. My grandparents raised me and they were old and slept in separate rooms. My grandfather was a disabled veteran who drove people around for a living in his old years and made homemade wine for all the drinkers in the city until he became sick.
My grandmother was a retired nurse who decided to clean hotels in her older years until she became sick. They made sure I went to church every Sunday. I ran track, was a cheerleader, and played sports at my leisure. I loved to sing and dance. So I sang in chorus in school, choir, praise team, and participated in dance competitions. I was the shortest and smallest in school so I was picked on a lot for that.
It messed with my self-esteem and I began wearing heels and bling so people know me this day by bling and my shoes! They started calling me the heel lady or the bling girl. Now, I have the name Queen Diamond and Boss Cat. This is what everyone calls me! Because in my life I was CUT TO SHINE LIKE A QUEEN DIAMOND and because I helped people start their business even if it was like mine because I’m not intimidated they started calling me BOSS CAT!
Throughout my life, I have had to go through being raped, domestic violence, cancer, and dealing with the emotions of being raised with no parents, and my grandparents died by the time I turned 18 years old. So this world became my family along with my children. I wanted to do everything I could possibly do growing up!
