Today we’d like to introduce you to Devon Ventura
Hi Devon, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was originally born and raised near Tupelo, MS in Tombigbee State Park. My dad was the park manager, so we lived there full time, which was pretty cool because I had a park for my backyard as a child. In January 2004, my family opened a business – Mr. Donut – in Horn Lake, MS, so my family moved to DeSoto County. While being open for over 20 years, it’s hard to deny that my customer experience skills came from working in my parents’ business from a young age. My mother worked in a dental office for many years, so I experienced career opportunities that were the standard 8-5 everyday duties. I also witnessed her and my father build a business that created ample opportunities and time for my brother and me.
I gained obstetric sonography (prenatal ultrasound) education and experience working in various settings while studying at Baptist College of Health Sciences. I began my career in a relatively small hospital that gave me emergent obstetric work experience. From there I moved to physician offices for routine obstetric care. I only began experiencing the private ultrasound studio world post-Covid. After only six months, I was dedicated to making this a lifestyle and business for my future. When the opportunity presented itself to open my own 3D/4D ultrasound studio, I pounced like the Memphis tiger alumni I am.
With a background in sonography, a Master of Business Administration I earned at the University of Memphis in 2020, and parents who had been through the process of opening their own business, I felt more than prepared to take on this adventure. My business – MOMents Studio – was created out of love for helping expecting mothers have an amazing pregnancy experience. I feel confident helping expecting mothers slow down and take baby steps in enjoying their prenatal era.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My road to opening MOMents Studio has been rocky, personally and professionally, but I found inspiration to withstand those difficult times within my support system. Regardless of challenges in my venture to open my own business, my goal has been and remains to use those past instances to grow as a person and business owner. I love my career, and my dream is to continue creating long-lasting moments and relationships with the families I meet in my community.

• What should we know?
o MOMents Studio is an ultrasound studio located in east Memphis, TN and owned by a local resident who is certified in obstetric sonography.
• What do you do, what do you specialize in / what are you known for?
o MOMents Studio specializes in non-diagnostic prenatal ultrasounds to enhance your pregnancy experience. We are most known for our 3D/4D HDLive ultrasounds that often gives exquisite detail of your growing baby’s facial features and other parts such as fingers and toes. We can also use our ultrasound equipment to determine a baby’s gender at 14 weeks, the amount of hair on baby’s head, and the baby’s estimated weight.
• What sets you apart from others? What are you most proud brand wise?
o MOMents Studio really wants to be viewed as an additional pregnancy resource. While non-diagnostic, we understand the importance of prenatal care that can appear different for each family. MOMents Studio encourages prenatal healthcare and family bonding which is why we find our unique experience to bring many families closer to their growing baby even prior to birth. We are proud to employee registered sonographers who want to promote prenatal healthcare in our community. For example, this year we have participated community events such as the Regional One Mommy and Me Expo, Bloom, and 901 Promise Walk to meet mothers within our society who are looking for resources.
• What do you want our readers to know about your brand, offerings, services, etc?
o I want readers to know that MOMents Studio is a comfortable and welcoming environment to all. Too often I hear that moms have so much anxiety in the first half of their pregnancy because they have yet to feel their baby, and their ultrasounds are few and far between because it is what insurance will cover. MOMents Studio is non-diagnostic and also not covered by insurance because we are viewed as an optional means to view their baby and not medically necessary. We still can often help to relieve a mother’s anxiety when she sees the heartbeat fluttering and baby wiggling.
o At MOMents, we have a wide range of packages to get you exactly the experience you desire. We have beautiful keepsakes for purchase and an extra-large viewing room that holds a party up to 12 people. We really try to pull out all the stops for these growing families – so much so that we even have a massaging recliner and a sectional for the expecting mother’s support system.
What are your plans for the future?
The future of MOMents Studio will be bright no matter where we go. I love the idea of getting into newborn and/or family photography at our studio in the future. We have also had thoughts of expanding, thoughts of creating this into something even bigger and more resourceful for expecting mothers, and thoughts of just growing where we are planted while loving our beautiful studio. We are proud of the growth and impact we have made thus far, and truly hope we can continue to give growing families a better pregnancy experience.
