Inspiring Conversations with Gregory Wilkinson of Wilkinson Orthodontics and Children’s Dentistry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gregory Wilkinson.

Hi Gregory, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I come from a family of 3 generations of dentists. I have been working in this office since I was 12 years old. I have always wanted to practice dentistry. I am a dual trained pediatric dentist and orthodontist of which there are very few of this type of dual trained dentists in the country.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The pandemic certainly was not good for the practice, as the government had us shut down for many weeks. To add insult to injury, the office experienced a flood the year after the pandemic. It was a 100% loss. We had to move out of the building to rebuild. We were fortunate to have a tiny space to work out of, but it was not great. We are now back in the newly renovated building which is great!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a dual trained pediatric dentist and orthodontist. There are approximately 150 dual trained individuals globally and less than 50 practicing both professions. We treat children and adults for both cleanings and orthodontics. We have had several generations of families come through the practice. It is nice to be your own referral source. We are now a third generation dental provider with over 100 years of experience in our family. Our clinic is a brand new state of the art facility, with a stimulatory yet serene setting.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Our definition of success is helping others. Whether it is getting them out of pain, brightening and/ or straightening their smile or just being a calming and comforting place to come, we are here to help.
