Inspiring Conversations with Jala Williams of Brat’Tique Melt Down

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jala Williams.

Hi Jala, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I was a little girl around the age of 10/11 years old. I was always with my grandmother at the Beauty Salon watching her Do hair and she used to show me how to do styles on a client/customer.

When I finally turned about 14/15 years of age I did my first sewing on myself and I knew then what I wanted to be in life. To begin with, I continued to watch my Grandma as she worked on her customers and picked up some techniques she did.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a smooth road for me, in the beginning, trying to build my clientele and try different styles on Ladies but when I finally posted the styles I did on myself I was getting noticed.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Brat’Tique Melt Down?
I am a Hairstylist and Small business owner who deals with weave (examples) Basic Sew in leave out, Frontals Sew in and Frontal Quick weave, Closure sew-ins and Quick weave, Ponytails, etc. I am most known for coloring hair and using different types of Color brands.

I am different from most Hairstylists because I started off a little slow with not too many clients/models to practice on but I always used myself to perfect my craft. Not only do I do hair I also sell it and I sell lashes, lip balm, and my personal branded melt belts. When I first started selling lashes I sold out in just 2 days and after my first bunch was gone I continued to make sales.

I started to feel good about myself because I felt like nobody was going to support me but I kept telling myself to keep going and not give up. I remained humbled and I kept posting my styles and lashes on social media to get out there and let the world know what I was doing.

I love to make other women look good and feel good about themselves especially when you have beautiful hair slays and some beautiful lashes all women love to look good and feel good no matter what it is. When I finish my clients I love to hype them up and take them a picture.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is making a woman happy about herself and feel good. Why, because many times I’ve been in the hair industry there is one somebody who has low self-esteem about themselves. So as a hairstylist I always tell my clients that they are beautiful inside and out and don’t ever let nobody tell them otherwise.
