Hi Jody, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I moved to Mississippi three years ago and found a Magnolia Soap and Bath Co in my town. I initially purchased items as gifts as I loved the idea of supporting a local business. The gifts were a hit so I decided I needed to try them myself. I loved every product I tried! When my youngest child started college, I decided Magnolia would be a great place to work. One thing led to another, and I decided opening a franchise would be a wonderful way to write the next chapter of my life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a business in a pandemic has definitely been challenging, but I have felt the support of the Collierville community who want a local business to succeed.
As you know, we’re big fans of Magnolia Soap and Bath Co. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At Magnolia Soap, we believe you do not have to sacrifice your health for beauty. We use only domestically sourced, naturally grown ingredients that have actually felt and seen the sun. Plant-based ingredients in every recipe! We offer beautiful handmade products that are all made right in the Collierville store including soaps, bath bombs, laundry soap, candles, body butter, scrubs and SO much more!
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
The Collierville location is a local, family-owned business. Jody is the owner whom you’ll see doing everything from making products to greeting customers. Her husband, Mark, helps with the business side and can be seen at the cash register each weekend.
Their 21 years old daughter, Avery, helps with marketing and social media. Jake, their 19 years old son, made soap and laundry detergent all summer before heading back to college. And let’s not forget Lanie, the shop dog, who makes occasional appearances!
