Inspiring Conversations with Maciah & Mariah Strickland of Loc’d N Vegan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maciah & Mariah Strickland.

Hi Maciah & Mariah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
We are twins Maciah and Mariah Strickland; we became vegan about 4 years ago after learning you can aid in your longevity through a plant-based diet and exercise.

Therefore, seeing how the majority of our elderly family members started being diagnosed with different health issues we knew we did not want to be a part of that statistic where hereditary disease would be passed on to us. Not because of genetics, but because of the eating habits we were brought up on.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey has not been smooth, we have definitely had our share of bumps in the road.

As small business owners in the food industry we face many challenges, one of which is the constant search for quality accurate information. Another is access and capital for pop-up entry fees. Additionally, we struggle with the ability to buy in bulk from groceries, which would allow us to buy down the cost of ingredients and avoid shopping at retail rates.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Loc’d N Vegan Inc.?
Here at Loc’d N Vegan, we are a mobile plant-based catering/meal prep service. We feel as if our purpose is to educate our community about a healthier eating lifestyle. We are here to help others aid in a longer life by teaching about food that fuels our bodies and potentially reverses any diseases. What makes us different from our competitors is that we take a gourmet-style approach using 90% of fresh ingredients as well as being 100% soy free with gluten-free options.

We even offer private personal training sessions to customers. Brand wise we are most proud of our branding from merchandise sales. It is an amazing feeling when you are out in public, and see someone repping a Loc’d N Vegan t-shirt. We would like for people to know that we are here to help so if they are inquiring about changing their eating habits, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

What’s next?
Our plans for the future are to continue to target customers who are food-curious, fitness and health-conscious individuals with an appetite.

We want to have an establishment where our customers and clients can get some great food and an amazing workout. We are looking forward to meeting new potential customers at pop-up events in different cities.
