Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My wife and I both grew up in Collierville and currently reside in Piperton with our five active children. Sports, fitness, and outdoor activities, especially while traveling, are our passions. My wife was a Division I collegiate athlete, playing women’s soccer for the University of Memphis Lady Tigers, and we continue to be passionate fans and supporters of the program.
We wanted to pursue a self-owned and operated business that met a few key conditions. It had to be service-oriented but not tied to a brick-and-mortar location, and it needed to align with our passions. We found exactly that in GYMGUYZ.
GYMGUYZ is a unique business model focused on health and fitness by bringing workouts directly to clients. We cater to their busy lifestyles, addressing a common challenge many people face. Some want to exercise and improve their fitness but lack the time or desire to be in a gym or class environment. Life often gets in the way, but GYMGUYZ is designed to help overcome that obstacle. This model is highly flexible, allowing us to meet clients wherever they are, regardless of age or fitness level, and create personalized fitness programs that help them achieve their goals.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a slower start than we had planned and hoped for, but each month we are making progress. Any small business faces challenges in the beginning. We believe in this model, recognize the need for this service in our community, and are confident that our growth will come.
Our goal is to help our clients, one by one, live longer and more active lives. As we grow, we hope to give back to the greater Memphis community by partnering with charitable organizations that could benefit from our services.
Although this brand is ranked number one nationally, it is not yet well known in the Memphis area. We aim to change that. When people see our bright red vans in their neighborhoods or driving around town, they will not have to wonder what GYMGUYZ is. They will know.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We have clients as young as nine years old and others in their seventies. We help improve athletic conditioning, build strength, tone muscles, support weight loss, and provide nutrition guidance.
By offering private, semi-private, and group class options, we can truly cater to each individual client, families, or businesses looking for fitness solutions for their teams. We also offer assisted stretch services, which are a great way to improve flexibility, range of motion, and muscle recovery, especially after physical activity.
Our team consists of nationally accredited and certified personal trainers with a wide range of qualifications and experience. Some of their certifications include Fitness Nutrition Specialist, Certified Exercise Physiologist, and Women’s Fitness Specialist.
What sets us apart is simple. We bring the workout to you, whenever and wherever by providing convenient, customized, and creative workouts tailored to our clients’ needs.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My wife and I have known each other since we were kids, around the same ages as our third and fourth children are now. We often reflect on our childhood and compare it to our lives as busy parents of five.
Little did we know what our futures would hold, and even now, in our forties, we still wonder what lies ahead. Just as we hope for our clients, we are focused on living active lifestyles for years to come. We know that having GYMGUYZ in our lives will play a key role in achieving that goal.
